Cleanup[edit]

Is this a list page, or a description of what an Irish royal family was ? At the moment it does not seem to be one or the other, and it's far from apparent what purpose it serves. Also, some of the language is tendentious, and the historicity debatable. Fir Bolg and Eóganachta races ? Angus McLellan 21:00, 2 March 2006 (UTC). I have just discovered this entry for the first time, and agree with the foregoing remarks of Angusmclellan. I have made some effort to clean up the text, and add useful references, but much more work is needed, preferably by the original author, whoever that is.Seneschally3 June 2006.[reply]

'The article talks of Irish Royal families in very generic terms but fails to mention any of them such as the Ui Neill or the O Briain. No mention either of famous Irish high Kings whose power extended throughout most of the land in the 9th; 10th and 11th centuries. Such as Brian Boru.
An island of petty independent kingdoms does not properly describe the Ireland of 900-1150. 1.53.235.176 (talk) 16:04, 27 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Anyone have any description of the "McCarthy Mor embarassment"? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.41.40.182 (talk) 00:08, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Clarify and rewrite, or delete[edit]

This is an incoherent mess (as commented above, 14 years ago!). No doubt begun with the best of intentions, its purpose and focus are unclear. We already have articles on Irish kings and Irish nobility, though they have issues too, but what this article is supposed to cover is unclear. Earlier Ireland had hundreds of petty kingdoms, and a shifting structure of over-kingdoms, and I'm not sure a single article can usefully handle that, and the various major dynasties can be looked at individually. I flag it now for attention, but to be honest, I am, as rarely happens, sorely tempted to nominate it for deletion, as I don't think it adds to the encyclopedia or quality coverage of Ireland. Any opinions? SeoR (talk) 11:01, 15 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I’m Irish I’ve studied this and I just read this page
to an Irish eye, I see none of the issues you are harping about
this is factual history and you’ll find the broadest familial lineage names were used actually encompass the o Neil and o brien dynasties
yes Fir Bolg is a nickname for a race , also called the race of rudhraigh, aka muintir giollagain from tethbae. See list of Irish clans page for documentation second from last clan.
just to say, this page is fine, go find real issues 2601:546:8201:A540:0:0:0:AB45 (talk) 23:30, 16 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
