Paul Anka's 2004 or 2005 album?

In two places in the article there are different years. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.77.88.49 (talk) 11:54, 6 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Remake of the Talk Talk song?

[edit]

The guy who added that this is a remake of Talk Talk's 'It's My Life' has obviously never heard both songs. Listen to both of them before you consider putting it back, and then don't.

Similarity to Summer of '69

[edit]

I want to post the following:

Similarity to Summer of '69 Many listeners note a melodic and lyrical similarity to the Bryan Adams song Summer of '69. In "It's My Life", Bon Jovi sings a refrain of "It's my life, and its now or never/I ain't gonna live forever". The second part of that melody is nearly identical to a refrain in "Summer of '69", which Adams uses to sing "You told me it would last forever" and "I knew that it was now or never". Adams follows the second of those lines by singing "those were the best days of my life".

TheHYPO says that the above information is irrelevant to the page. I think thats just his opinion. He seems to think his opinion is all that matters. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.129.207.220 (talkcontribs) 14:19, 31 May 2007

The specific facts of this situation are as follows: user:T Fergusen (who I assume to be the above user) adds the above facts, and after I revert them (with explaination), emails me to discuss them (amongst calling me several angry things). I explain clearly: Wikipedia policies of Wikipedia:Verifiability and Wikipedia:Original Research note that, whether the above may be factually true, there is no citation there. In addition, since the only possible intended "message" the above text might have in my eyes is that Bon Jovi has plagerized the song (without actually saying that), it's either original research into plagerism, or just nonsense mentioning that two songs are similar, which is too trivial for wikipedia.
I also made clear that the appropriate course of action is to discuss the situation on the article's talk page and get an opinion other than his and mine, to which I got angry response that he couldn't just stick it back in, and apparently has finally accepted (and is still making personal attacks at me. Charming). I leave it open to discussion. Discuss. As to anonymous IP/T Fergusen, feel free to explore Wikipedia:Requests for comment or Wikipedia:Third opinion as alternatives if noone chimes in. [edit]

WikiProject Bon Jovi proposal

[edit]

I have proposed the creation of a WikiProject Bon Jovi here. If you would like to join or give input, please comment there. Thanks! Toa Nidhiki05 19:59, 18 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

regards only "hair metal" band to have top 40 this century..

[edit]

I'm guessing you would regard Guns N' Roses as hair metal then? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Billynofriends (talkcontribs) 17:09, 13 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I think it's a copy of a 1992's Turkish song

We would need an independent reliable source to similarly claim that the song is in any way similar, let alone the idea that it is a "copy". - SummerPhDv2.0 18:19, 31 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Not necessarily. I actually bothered to listen to the Turkish song. I did not notice any similarities with the Bon Jovi song. But the music seems to be based on "It's My Life" (1992) by Dr. Alban. Dimadick (talk) 22:56, 1 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Why, are you planning to write an article on "İsmail" by Grup Vitamin? Based on their current article, the band specialized on parody songs. Dimadick (talk) 16:45, 3 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Adding Pop metal as a genre on this article

[edit]

Hey!

Just wanted to know if it was ok to add the genre "pop metal" to this song. Explicitly stated as being a part of this genre on page 46 of The Rough Guide to Heavy Metal (2005). Quote "The album [Crush] was decked out with a pumping modern production which worked well on the tried-and-trusted blend of ballads, gentle rockers and full- on pop-metal gems - in particular, the single "It's My Life"

Thanks! AgentKozak (talk) 18:40, 28 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@AgentKozak: The source looks legit. You can add it, but since this is a print source, I highly suggest adding the quote to the citation with the "quote" parameter. ResPM (T🔈🎵C) 18:46, 28 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yep that's fine, will do. Thanks! AgentKozak (talk) 18:53, 28 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
