English translation[edit]

Does anyone know who was responsible for the English lyrics? The infobox has a credit for Mort Shuman without further clarification. The Scott Walker recording is partly memorable because of the very odd English phrasing. --Ef80 (talk) 09:52, 11 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The English translation used by Walker was by Mort Shuman; he is mentioned as the translator of Brel's songs in the Scott Walker article (but without citation). Marc Almond's version also used the Shuman translation, unlike Almond's album of Brel songs Jacques where newer translations of the songs were used. The recording of this song by Momus, in addition to the changed title, also used a new translation -- Foetusized (talk) 21:18, 12 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Why use the disambiguator (Jacque Brel song) when there isn't a page called Jacky (song) ? -- Beardo (talk) 06:29, 29 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Good point. I have moved the page. Warden (talk) 19:11, 23 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Because there are other songs. In ictu oculi (talk) 22:51, 4 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
But none that have their own page. Why have Jacky (song) redirect here ? -- Beardo (talk) 01:06, 25 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
