This seems to be copy verbatim from the 1911 Encyclopedia. It needs more sources so we can change the wording so it isn't explicitly plagiarized. J. Finkelstein 19:51, 7 May 2006 (UTC)

Check out Category:1911 Britannica, this is but one of many thousands. 199EB is PD, so we can use the excellent content verbatim, and the notice at the bottom of the article properly credits them, so no plagiarism here.
