Visited Italy i.o. Switzerland?

[edit]

BBC (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7589251.stm) talk about that he met Von Hassel in Italy i.o. in Switzerland? Does this need to be corrected here, or are there other records proving the opposite? Stephanvaningen (talk) 19:14, 31 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

In the MI5 paperwork it states that he met made arrangements to travel to Venice, so it appears the meeting may have took place in Venice, Italy, but it also says he travelled to Switzerland, it is definately unclear I will endeavour to read every part of the pdfs but alot of it isn't legible. I can send you the pdf's if you wish RohypnolFTW (talk) 19:19, 31 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rudolf Hess Connection

[edit]

On the Dutch page there appears to be a connection with Rudolf Hess, and references to presumabley dutch/german sources, could someone who can translate elaborate? RohypnolFTW (talk) 23:54, 31 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"The Bryan overtures were the backdrop for the peacemaking mission of Rudolf Hess, who believed that London contained a group of prominent politicians and nobility who were prepared for peace." i.e. There was no direct relationship to Hess. Autodidactyl (talk) 09:24, 1 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Improvements

[edit]

There a number of problems with this article. It says Ulrich von Hassell was the German ambassador to Italy in 1940, which is quite a feat because Hitler fired Hassell as his ambassador to Italy in 1938. Bryans was trying to contact German conservatives like Hassell to discuss the peace terms which Britain would make with a post-Nazi Germany. This article is really wrong in insinuating that Bryans was trying to set up a peace deal with Nazi Germany in 1940. --A.S. Brown (talk) 04:55, 23 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
