Nederlandsche Handel-Maatschappij
[edit]The article refers to the Dutch East India Company as the owner of Soembing. However, that company had been liquidated in 1800 (as the wikipedia page referred to clearly states). The Soembing was actually presented to the Shogun by the Nederlandsche Handel-Maatschappij (NHM) on behalf of King William III of the Netherlands. The NHM had taken over the role of the VOC in the Dutch relations with Japan after 1824. However, the NHM, and its representative in Deshima, Donker Curtius, only acted as agents. The Soembing was owned by the Dutch navy. I have therefore made the necessary edits and added an online source in English.--Ereunetes (talk) 23:02, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
