Awards & who's who

[edit]

Awards should generally be notable. I don't think the awards a college awards its staff are notable. I'm not at all convinced the CAPE one is either. They are nice and valuable to the person getting them, but they don't seem that notable from what I could fine. The Who's Who entries are more problematic. Marquis Who's Who is nothing like the British Who's Who -- they seem to go for quantity not quality, to quote one comment in an AfD, "Marquis' listings don't establish any notability and are not a particular honor: their selection policy seems to be rather inclusive (logical: the more people are included, the more might buy a commemorative plaque or the actual editions in which they appear, which seems to be the main source of income for this outfit". We would never use these as evidence of notability for a subject. Dougweller (talk) 15:29, 29 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

That's fine Doug, I'll trust your judgement on this one. I haven't been to America in ten years, I don't often write on anything to do with the USA so excuse my inexperience of TV awards or accolades in general. I don't even have a TV, don't follow what's going on there at all and bow to your opinions on this one. I think it's a waste of a perfectly good invention!
