I have come across a James McClure in the 'John Litster Pre-War Scottish players' files. He played for Clyde from 1921 to 1923 (44 league games, 5 goals) playing on the right wing. That would all tie in with this being the same player who then went to the US. However, the files also include another season for this player at right-back in 1925-26, which contradicts the USA dates. So it might be a completely different player altogether, or maybe just the 25-26 season is a misappropriation. Or maybe he came back, but looks like the USA Jimmy played the full ASL season, and the Clyde James did too (32 out of 36 league fixtures). Not much else to go on, either on the article or the files. If anyone is interested, give me a shout and I'll try look into it further on press cuttings etc. Crowsus (talk) 14:24, 19 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
My grandfather played for Clyde through 23 then went to US…and played there. Landed in Philly. Did not go back to Scotland, so there must be another Jimmy McClure 98.19.148.75 (talk) 04:19, 25 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
