Conflicting year of birth[edit]

MLB.com shows his year of birth as 1954. However, baseball-reference.com as well has his obituary list the year as 1953. Bob305 (talk) 00:11, 15 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I don't hold the obituary as a wholly reliable source as it also states that he played in the Majors for the Detroit Tigers. Bob305 (talk) 00:19, 15 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

date of death[edit]

I removed the following unsourced statement as I could not find a reliable source to verify, and secondly, did he collapse on the 12th and die on the 13? Baseball-reference.com as well has his obituary list the day of death as the 13th. I have my reservations about the obituary (as stated in the previous section), but b-r would be considered a reliable source.

"On June 12, 2014, Pittman was working a construction job in Freeport, Texas, when he suddenly collapsed and died. Immediate attempts to revive him were unsuccessful."
I applied the [original research?] tag this evening because of the revert and comments found at User talk:Downsmith#Joe Pittman. Bob305 (talk) 04:03, 23 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Current Data Online[edit]

@MusiCitizen: Thanks! Thanks for checking back to these other reliable sources for updates. As spring and summer approach I hope to get back to editing more baseball-related articles. Bob305 (talk) 17:33, 17 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
