Correction concerning the American Coalition
[edit]I am a son of John B Trevor, Jr., and realize that editing Wikipedia articles of relatives is strongly discouraged. However, my edit of May 24, 2022 corrects a factual error that originated with a misunderstanding on the part of Atlanta Constitution columnist Ralph McGill. He published a column which stated that the American Coalition had been indicted for sedition, which it had not. McGill published a retraction on the front page of the Atlanta Constitution on January 23, 1957, "Misunderstanding Corrected." This was further corroborated by the deposition of William Mahoney on January 15, 1957 https://nuvocom.com/JBT/1957-Jan-15-Mahoney2.pdf. Unfortunately, some authors including Adam Miller, whose 1994 article is referenced by this Wikipedia article, did not see or chose to ignore the retraction and quote the original false allegation.
This same error has been made in the article on my grandfather, John B Trevor. I am an infrequent Wikipedia editor and don't know all the rules, but no one else has seen to correct this serious error so I have felt it necessary to do so despite my obvious COI. BTW, I had used by real name in all my edits.

American Coalition brochure
[edit]Citation 10 (The American Coalition - Why It Was Organized and What It Does) was marked "Better Source Needed" by Llll5032. I have a physical copy of this document that was given to me by John B Trevor when I was a child. If the existence of the document is in doubt I am happy to show it to an official Wikipedia editor. The quote is directly from this document so I don't see how there can be a better source. Sandytrevor (talk) 19:30, 27 October 2023 (UTC)
- The source is self-published by the advocacy group. Independent reliable sources are preferred for the encyclopedia instead, for
"non-promotional articles that fairly portray the subject, without undue attention to the subject's own views"
