Notable?

[edit]

This section heading is pretty self-explanatory. —Politizer talk/contribs 08:31, 22 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Why not? He's been the primary subject of multiple, non-trivial sources. He has a prize named after him, and a book about his collection (which itself was reviewed in multiple sources, though the article only includes one review as a reference.) Zagalejo^^^ 08:34, 22 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Just having a prize named after you doesn't automatically create notability (it's about on par with being in the news once...after all, prizes are often made in people's honor posthumously, which doesn't make the individual wiki-notable). If the collection is a big deal, on the other hand, then maybe notability is established here. I don't know. I'm just trying to start a discussion and get people who are better than I am at this stuff to figure this out. —Politizer talk/contribs 08:41, 22 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I think the fact that there's an entire book about his collection, which was reviewed in multiple places, is the clincher. By all means, take it to AFD if you wish. We won't get much of a discussion here. Zagalejo^^^ 08:46, 22 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I wasn't really planning on taking it to AfD, partially because, to be honest, I kind of think it's cute, even if not notable enough for DYK. You're right that the book is probably a knock-down argument; I'll do some thinking on it today. —Politizer talk/contribs 15:16, 22 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
