I think we need to add more detail for this eccentic, how he managed to get the Greek Chair at Edinburgh, how he found his search for and found his great cause in championing gealic, and his fight with the The Bailie newspaper over it. how he supported and drove the Hydropathy movement in Edinburgh,particulary the wet sheeet method, his penchant fo bawdy poetry, what he did after his death, some of his anecdotes, his original translation of faust, at his own expense, and his huge repotoire of scottish song and singing, some very ancient and known by only a few.

Here is another anecdote, wich reads. Professor Blackie wrote on a board. 'Professor Blackie will not meet his classes today', A student entred and rubbed off the c, to make lasses, and then Blackie came in and seeing the obliterdation, immediately rubbed off the l!. scope_creep (talk) 11:41, 1 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
