Think I recall seeing a TV program where someone gave the correct pronunciation of his name as not the more obvious (to some) "Paice" but "Pa - chay". Just wondered if someone who knows more about phonetic notation than I do could check this and put it in the article. Thanks. Britmax 21:29, 24 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Correct, the name is of Italian origin. An IPA would be useful.--MartinUK (talk) 19:50, 12 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
We need to be a bit careful of keeping the Italian pronunciation as in some cases, Italian pronunciations changed with the Brazilian usage. We need the Brazilian pronunciation, which may or may not be "pa-chay" - I've also heard "pash". Bretonbanquet (talk) 19:32, 12 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Reverts

[edit]

As per the template documentation, cause of death "should only be included when the cause of death has significance for the subject's notability" - there is no indication that is the case here. Additionally per MOS:GEOLINK, only the smallest geographic entity should be linked in a sequence. This revert should be undone. Nikkimaria (talk) 02:54, 27 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

He died tragically aged 32 in a widely publicised plane crash across Brazil; there's no point in the parameter if it isn't used when necessary, which it is here. MOS:GEOLINK is a good call, but you're misinterpreting the template doc, which I've seen you do on multiple occasions now. Think about your edits before you make them and criticise others for reverting them. Mb2437 (talk) 02:59, 27 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Whether the death was tragic or publicized is not the criterion at issue - it's significance to the subject's notability. Do you have sourcing to suggest that's the case? Nikkimaria (talk) 03:11, 27 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
His professional racing career (in Formula One no less) was cut short by his death, which thus makes it significant to his notability. Mb2437 (talk) 03:21, 27 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
How would his career having been cut short have been different if he had died from an asthma attack or falling down the stairs? Nikkimaria (talk) 03:33, 27 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Not the same, as plane crashes are more widely discussed in secondary sources, but I'd say those examples should still be included. Mb2437 (talk) 03:37, 27 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Here is a list of notable aviation deaths. Mb2437 (talk) 03:28, 27 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
