Notability?
[edit]It should be pretty obvious from the article why it is relevant, as it is the painter of one of Belgiums most well-known comics. Thus it is not only relevant, but indeed highly relevant. There are already an article made by someone else about the author Jean-David Morvan, and all the other persons who have taken part in creating the comic, not least Franquin himself. Deleting this article would also mean one would have to delete those articles, plus articles about people like Morris, Uderzo and Goscinny! --Oddeivind (talk) 20:48, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
I have now, in the article, made it even more obvious why Munuera is highly notable, as I have pointed out for those who knows nothing on the subject (and therebye are not really qualified to form an opinion) that Spirou et Fantasio is one of the most popular classic Franco-Belgian comic strips. Deleting such an article would be an extreme form of exclusionism --Oddeivind (talk) 21:46, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
I have asked new page patroller Fram, who also writes articles on the subject (he started the article about Jean-David Morvan) to comment on the nomination for deletion. --Oddeivind (talk) 21:55, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
- How odd, why speedy deletion? Spirou et Fantasio is one of the most iconic comic series in the world and JL Munuera drew several of its books. Mezigue (talk) 22:36, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
- Exactly! That is also what I wonder! Good to hear more people with some common sense!! --Oddeivind (talk) 22:37, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
- I think the artist is notable, but the article itself needs some cleanup and fixing of tone. 惑乱 Wakuran (talk) 23:13, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
- I'm unsure on whether the name with or without the hyphen is most correct, though. If the hyphen would be the most correct, I'm waiting for an admin to fix that. 惑乱 Wakuran (talk) 23:21, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
- I am uncertain about that myself, actually. I wrote it without the hyphen, as that seems to be how most of the other Wikipedias wrote it, but it might well be it should be with a hyphen. I put "stub" on the article, it would be nice if someone who knows French could add something from the French Wikipedia. --Oddeivind (talk) 05:23, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
The reason given for the nomination is that the article supposedly does not specify why the subject is significant. This is clearly wrong as it clearly specifies that Munuera has contributed to the production of one of the worlds most well-known comics. It has been referred to section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion as a reason for the nomination. As there are clearly no ground for this nomination, someone should remove the nomination. As far as I understand, anyone (apart from the person who started the article - that is I) can remove it. Feel free to do so! --Oddeivind (talk) 06:01, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
- A point of view from a French Wikipedian (who took the picture in Strasbourg a couple of days ago) : speedy deletion seems totally irrelevant in this case ! By the way, no hyphen needed in my opinion (name of Spanish origin). Ji-Elle (talk) 07:34, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
- Hmm, "Ji-Elle", would be cool if this was José-Luis, himself. 惑乱 Wakuran (talk) 08:56, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
