Suggestions

[edit]

G'day, I have the following comments/suggestions for improvement;

  • structure: there is one main heading, I wonder if this could be broken up a bit more;
  • this source has some good info: Organising for jungle warfare, pp 86-101
  • I wonder if more context couldn't be added by talking about the early divisional establishment and the focus of the Army's early campaigns being in the desert, then discuss the shift towards the Pacific as the main theatre of Army operations...?
  • inconsistent terminology: CMF and Militia. I suggest using Militia, as it wasn't technically the CMF until 1948 (I believe);
  • more could possibly be said about the need for flexibility: some areas allowed more equipment than others (the Organising for jungle warfare chapter I've linked to above mentions this);
  • I wonder if something could be added about whether or not the Army kept the jungle division after the war. (They didn't, but you could mention it - see p 101 of Palazzo "Organising for jungle warfare"). Additionally maybe a mention of the parallels to Australian forces committed to the region later might be made (p. 95 Organising for jungle warfare).
