First look[edit]

KAVEBEAR at your convenience, have a look. The table below lists all 85 individuals I could find 1875–1891 for Kalakaua's privy council. No listing for 1874. I am assuming that Thrum's got their information directly from government sources, making the head count as accurate as is possible. With some variations, it looks like the king kept a core group of the same people around as advisors. There are numerous names that appear consistently 1875–1891. Maybe this is worth publishing at this point, since we have the Liliuokalani one. Thinking over. — Maile (talk) 20:40, 13 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

KAVEBEAR I moved the links you supplied to the bottom of this page. I'll probably publish this without. It hurts my eyes to look at that, so that's that. And my browser/system scrunches it down to one or two lines at a time, so I can't eyeball the whole of what I'm looking at. I took a cursory glance at the minutes searching for "oath" and "new" for incidents of new appointments. Noticed most of the names are on the list below. It seems most of his privy councilors were relatively consistent. KAVEBEAR (talk) 05:45, 20 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for that. Since I can't view a big area of the minutes, I've started checking the below list against the minutes with individual name searches. That's been helpful here for the existing names. I'm still not publishing, because there's still research I want to do on the individuals listed. If you are in a hurry to publish, we can do as is. At his bedside when he died[edit]

From Kuykendall, p. 472:

"At the king's bedside at this moment were, on the right, Reverend J. Sanders Reed, Colonel Macfarlane, and Admiral Brown; on the left, Colonel Baker, Kalua, and Kahikina; at the foot of the bed, Mrs. Swan, Consul McKinley, and Dr. Woods; grouped around the room, Lieut. Dyer, Charles R. Bishop, Godfrey Rhodes, Judge Hart, Senator G. E. Whitney, Mrs. McKinley, Mrs. Price, Mrs. J. S. Reed, and Claus Spreckels. Kalakaua was fifty-four years, two months, and 4 days of age at the time of his death."
