Untitled[edit]

Rewrote the entire article, including references, and tried to remove the many unsubstatiated historical claims and what appeared to be subtle efforts at providing modern political views with a historical basis. Can people writing articles on Sri Lankan history please desist from imbuing them with bias (whatever that may be)! DocSubster 19:06, 1 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • It's a good article, but needs some more work. First off, the title is Kalinga Magha, but your lead calls him Magha first. It seems to me that the main title/name he is associated with should be used in the title and the first part of the lead.
  • While you explain that nothing is known of him before the invasion, you don't explain what happened to him after he was deposed. If there is no info about that, please mention that, as well.
  • The references need to be consolidated. 7,8, and 9 can be combined into one, since you're only citing chapters, and those references all cover the same chapters.
  • I don't want to sound negative about it, since it is well written and informative. It just needs some more work. Hope these criticisms are helpful.
  • By the way, you put in an assessment request, but didn't tag it for assessment. I have done this for you. If you feel this is an error, please go ahead and delete the tag. Jeffpw 19:54, 1 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

PLEASE CHANGE TITLE[edit]

Can someone please change the title of this page to 'Magha', as I have no idea how to do it myself! 131.111.8.98 09:36, 2 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

massive migration, really?[edit]

Is there actually any evidence of a mass migration of people who escaped Magha's rule? Its a well known fact that the rulers of the Sinhala Kingdom had to withdraw, but I find it very unlikely that the majority of people who lived in those areas all fled to the south west. If this was the case there would be archaelogical and literary evidence of either a mass migration to the south or a mass displacement from those regions conquered by Magha.

This fits well with the Sinhala Buddhist ideology propagated in many of these type of articles. Where ever possible they have emphasized the North belonged to Sinhales and these Tamil kings just kicked them out. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.123.169.254 (talk) 18:28, 27 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

‍Not just north, but the entire Island used to belong to Sinhalese, and Sinhala monarchy. Read the Mahavansa to find out what Kalinga Magha had done to the Sinhalese monarchy in the sri lanka. denying the history, and historical facts prove your Sinhalesephobia, and bigotry sentiment. Kalinga Magha massacred thousands of innocent sinhalese, forced converted buddhists, destroyed buddhist temples, and stupas.
