Merge with Cainan

[edit]

I suggest that this article will be merged with Cainan under the article-name Kenan, since they are the same person.KMA "HF" N 08:47, 14 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I could live with a merger - or with providing the relevant info to separate articles - with a pointer to the other article. However, they are not "the same person". They are either two persons or ante-diluvian Kenan is a person and post-diluvian Cainan is a scribal error. Str1977 (talk) 15:19, 3 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Untrue statement.

[edit]

I reverted the last edit which said " Fact: he was a tyrant and gay" because it does not appear anywhere. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Sameerkale (talkcontribs) 00:45, 4 May 2007 (UTC).[reply]

objections of an IP

[edit]

Dear Mr IP,

here is your chance to clearly state why you object to my changes and which words I am supposedly dropping from which quote! There is only one quote in this article and the only thing I did was re-formatting a comment about this quote into a footnote.

Please state your case here or cease your edit-warring. Str1977 (talk) 15:21, 3 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

You must be confused, the issue here is different but first I will respond to that at Talk:Cainan 172.56.35.26 (talk) 20:35, 3 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
So what are your objections? Str1977 (talk) 23:04, 3 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Dates in the Infobox

[edit]

I've removed the dates from the infobox. Previously, the infobox claimed (without any source cited and without any support in the article) that Kenan was born "c. 3800 BCE" and died "c. 2890 BCE." These dates won't be found in any reliable sources, because they assume that the world was created in "c. 4125 BCE", which not only doesn't fit with modern science, it doesn't even quite fit with any of the most common chronologies used by traditional religious people. For example, Archbishop Ussher's chronology places creation at 4004 BC, which would shift the lifespan of Kenan to 3679-2769 BC. The traditional rabbinic date of creation is 3760 BCE, which would have Kenan living 3435-2525 BCE. The Septuagint will give yet another date, depending on which manuscript you use, but somewhere around 5200-4300 BCE. None of these line up with the unexplained dates that were given in the infobox. Zillah and Adah

[edit]

Why aren't Zillah and Adah listed as daughters of his? The book of Jasher mentions as much.65.34.125.22 (talk) 15:46, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
