Lots of his Greatest Hits compilations include various re-recordings ...

[edit]

Maybe this should be noted somehow, so people who want the original songs do not get tricked into buying the modernized stuff. Owners of both the 1978 LP and the 2001 CD, please LISTEN to The Gambler, and you will realize lots of rhythmic finesses are indeed different. Seems they put the 1991 versions on the CD. On the Through the Years - 20 Greatest Hits compilation - not to be confused with Twenty Greatest Hits, 1983, "Ruby" is original but the "Gambler" still sounds like the new version! Oh well! -andy 92.226.133.13 (talk) 14:06, 21 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Missing Compilation Album

[edit]

I believe that the album Always Leaving is missing from this discography. If there isn't a reason for it's absence, can someone who knows more about table code add it?--Entoaggie09 (talk) 15:24, 14 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like you got it in there already! There are a lot of missing albums, in fact - not from not being listed, but from their actual album details missing. Looks like I have some work to do - I've been researching some Kenny albums recently, and I'll be happy to supply what I can to get this discography out of the start class! =)

Getting 'Er Done

[edit]

Just as a quick note to any observers, I'm now looking at the lot of 1990s compilation albums. I'm trying to match up the discography - including any budget-priced CDs in the AllMusic list - to be as close as possible to that compiled by AllMusic and Rolling Stone. As there is more than one compilation album for every year since 1989, it's quite a mammoth task, but I intend to get a complete and accurate 1990s discography up for him! I shall then work on 2000-2004 and finalize those, then I can finish with 2005-present (by then maybe into 2009).

Anyone who likes may put in any studio albums until I get to that time; I might finish up the 2006 one myself in the meantime. I'm proud to say the entire discography is in place from 1976-1989, including Lucille and Other Classics, the first of the many compilation albums to deal with (the only thing missing on that page is links to prior and next album, which I'm doing last - after all of them are in for a period, say every couple of years).

Removal of budget release

[edit]

I have reverted the removal of budget releases, here. The fact that the budget releases are not-notable simply means that they don't merit their own page not they shouldn't be mentioned in the list. Better, I think, that such discographies are complete. Bridgeplayer (talk) 14:59, 10 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • I'm not disagreeing that the releases are non-notable and do not deserve their own pages. However, I'm not as clear on the guideline for albums being listed on the actual discography page. Some of the album pages I created, and I now agree they need to go (I've saved the two that were actual albums released officially by Rogers and company, one of those being in the UK only). Are budget albums still all right for discography inclusion without pages, or do we tend to eliminate those as well? CycloneGU (talk) 15:55, 11 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Ah, that was during the reign of Shania in the country charts, so #1 was unreachable...and Tim had A Place In The Sun around that time, and Paul Brandt was still popular as well. Kinda funny how we now see it as history, but it also leads me to some albums I still don't have from that era and I should investigate whether I want them...in any case, thanks for that link there Eric, I'm going to have to start looking through there myself for different things of interest as I'm Canadian myself. Reuben James

[edit]

I can't find any information about this song anywhere - or Kenny Rogers and the First Edition album. Was it released for the first time in 1977 on this album? It isn't in the singles chart. Could someone please fix? Thanks. ~~lemonpickets~~ — Preceding unsigned comment added by 101.162.149.1 (talk) 13:03, 20 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Why ...

[edit]

Why no mention of "Ruby", one of his most popular songs? 32.209.69.132 (talk) 07:34, 14 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
