A recent addition was added by an editor who says to be one of the two river guides who participated in the record setting run through the grand canyon. Based on what I read in Emerald Mile, Grua joined Grand Canyon Dories long before 1983, rather in the early to mid-1970s. He gained years of experience running the canyon in wooden dories, before doing the 1983 speed run. The Emerald Mile had wrecked a few years before 1983 and Grua appropriated it from GCD as a side project since he was working there. That's what the book says. Also his walk through the canyon was at-near river level but I'm pretty sure he was the first to walk through the canyon in a single walk at any level - Fletcher did it closer to rim-level but he didn't walk the whole canyon length from Lee's Ferry to Grand Wash Cliff. -- GreenC14:30, 5 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
