Coordinates

[edit]

Can anyone with a GPS unit please add precise coordinates for the internments listed (perhaps in a table) so that we can use {{kml}} to create a map of them all? Andy Mabbett (User:Pigsonthewing); Andy's talk; Andy's edits 15:32, 27 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

For what it's worth here is some original research based on a hand held GPS device. The coordinates here are precise, relative to the centre of the west gate. They are not correct in absolute terms as GPS accuracy is of the order of 5-10 metres in the UK. These GPS measurements were only valid at the time of the survey. Any additional survey would likely suffer from GPS drift and would need to be again based relative to the west gate. Oosoom Talk 20:24, 19 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

By the way, graves here are extremely hard to locate - very few have plot numbers engraved, and many inscriptions are hard to read. Oosoom Talk 20:24, 19 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Having tested this PoI in my user subpage I now suspect that kml does not work on a talk page. Oosoom Talk 21:04, 19 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Forget that. It now seems to work on this page. On this occasion the GPS locations seem to be abour two car lengths north west of their visible location on Google Satellite. Each point could be manually adjusted to make it correct on Google but is Google itself that accurate? In any case, nobody with their own GPS hand-held would be able to go straight to a grave without some arithmetic on location. Oosoom Talk 10:15, 20 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Notable

[edit]

Should John Wellington Starr be added as a notable 'resident'? I don't have a plot reference to add. 92.24.176.184 (talk) 12:12, 13 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
