Controversy section

[edit]

I wrote up a controversy section for this article, not sure if it is accurate. I didn't follow this news until today. Being that I am Chinese, my understanding of some of the topics is slim to none. Feel free to edit or rewrite. --Voidvector 09:50, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Danielle Salzberg’s religion

[edit]

I would normally agree that including a phrase like “who is Jewish” is rather inappropriate and, indeed, smacks of anti-Semitism. However, I think the context makes Danielle Salzberg’s religion highly relevant and important. To be clear, the context that I am referring to is the fact that this school has come under fire by way of “teaching Arabic = teaching Islam” so that it is important to note that an Islamic principal was replaced with a Jewish one. --Irn (talk) 04:12, 19 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Intifada NYC

[edit]

I think much of this (such as her free speech suit) belong on Debbie's page and not here at the school page. We can cut it down to what directly affects the school. gren グレン 03:52, 11 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I came here to say the same thing. -- Irn (talk) 02:09, 29 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Tone and Sanitizing

[edit]

The tone of this article is written as if it were a press release. Language such as 'our school' and quotes from the school's own website that lead off the article seem to give a sanitized point of view, rather than a third-person 'just the facts' kind of piece. Also, there is nary a mention of the controversial founding and first principal of the school. This is mentioned above from ten years ago in the 'Controversy Section' above. I've seen plenty of articles with such sections, and this article certainly warrants a neutral mention of what happened here. PVarjak (talk) 22:45, 22 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for pointing that out! Someone deleted the "history" section and replaced it with copy-and-pasted text from the school's website. I've restored the old version. Cheers, -- Irn (talk) 00:54, 26 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
