It may sound like an advertisement to some people who are ignorant of "Kimchi fridge" but is not. It is more than essential to mention an originator of any commercial merchandise, when it has been popularized and manufactured by a group of emerging competitors. Even Kimchi fridge is neither a trademark nor any commercial brand that can be beneficial to a specific manufacturer at all. Any kind of technological breakthroughs achieved in any industry should be ascribable to orginators, and still, it is not considered an advertisement.Chmyr (talk) 21:45, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

www.dimchae.com is not Kimchi Fridge Official Website

[edit]

Some editor might have put www.dimchae.com as Kimchi Fridge Official Website. Though I admit Dimchae was the first brand of its kind, but it shouldn't be the Kimchi Fridge Official Website. This is probably the reason why this stub has repeatedly been the target for cleanup or speedy deletion. Kimchi fridge is not a trade mark properly owned by any specific manufacturer. Instead of Kimchi refrigerator, Kimchi fridge is chosen as the proper title of this stub for fear of possible confusion on generalization, like milk refrigerators, soda refrigerators and veggie refrigerators, if any. Kimchi fridge might be the proper title of this article. The reason is there is no current article entitled Kimchi refrigerator. Even if the Kimchi refigerator were existent, somebody would like to generalize it into the category of a regular refrigerator.Chmyr (talk) 21:35, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This page needs to be moved to a new article named Kimchi refrigerator.--76.28.138.146 (talk) 04:33, 24 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Reasons for existing

[edit]

It seems to me the following editor didn't do any focus group or any other research, but is just talking common sense. Take GM's OnStar, for example. Nobody thinks it is a sort of original research or not fit for Wikipedia. As for Kimchi frdige, it has been existent for almost 20 years since early 1990. The main thing is that third party reference materials do not come in English.Chmyr (talk) 22:00, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've been told by Korean women that the main reason for having a kimchi fridge is that it keeps the kimchi from stinking up the regular fridge. I know from experince how potent kimchi is, and it can be nearly impossible to get the kimchi smell out of a refrigerator if you've stored any quantity of kimchi in it for long.

This is, of course, original research and thus not fit for Wikipedia.
