Stringer Bows Out of Kitchissippi Race

Throws to Ludington

Invites Smallman & Leadman to do same

Daniel Stringer has dropped out of the race for Ottawa City Council in Kitchissippi Ward (Ward 15). He ran and lost to Shawn Little in 2003, along with 4 others.

“’There are too many candidates’ is the message I’m getting at the doors” said Stringer. “Despite a good reception at the doors people are angry and frustrated. This election is very different from the last one even though there is the same number of candidates. Last time people were very angry at the incumbent. What I’m hearing at the door this time is that there are too many candidates. The electorate of Kitchissippi is angry and frustrated that the large number of candidates will split the vote and the incumbent will once more get elected with a small percentage of the vote.”

Although he has an experienced election team, Stringer has concluded that the people are looking for a different kind of leadership – one that steps back not forward and points to someone else rather than to oneself.

“I had what is turning out to be a significant chat last week with Kris Klein, who came second 3 years ago. He was urging some candidates to withdraw and coalesce around one single opposition candidate. That is why I am throwing my support to Gary Ludington. I hope other candidates will do the same thing. Vicky Smallman and Christine Leadman should put the interests of the voters first by supporting Gary. This is the only way we can be sure to have regime change in Kitchissippi, which is what the vast majority of voters want” said Stringer.
