Religion
[edit]I have heard it said that Koreans living in the UK are disproportionately likely to be Christian. I have no verifiable evidence for this, but it seems to tie in with personal observation. Has anyone else heard about this, and if so, do you have any good references about it? It seems interesting and would make a good addition to the Culture section if true and verifiable. Population size
[edit]According to the article, South Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade claim that 45,295 Koreans live in the UK. Can someone who understands Korean check how "Koreans" are defined? Is it Korean-born people, Korean nationals or people of Korean origin? And does it include North Koreans? Cordless Larry (talk) 21:37, 8 November 2009 (UTC)
- It's based on registrations of South Korean nationals with the local ROK consulate. Registration is mandatory for any ROK national who arrives in a foreign country and intends to stay more than 90 days. (Among other consequences, registration is used to prove to the tax man that you don't live in the ROK and so don't owe him any money). The consulates forward their year-end statistics to MOFAT (Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade), who then compiles that report. [1]. (In a few countries with a long history of Korean immigration --- Russia, China, the USA, Japan, and South America --- the consulate also include the count of people of Korean origin based on the local government's statistics. In that case MOFAT's report will note this. They don't do this in the UK. I think the decision whether to do this or not is made at the level of the ministry, rather than at the discretion of the local consulate).
- Basically, that number should be a pretty accurate count of the number of ROK citizens. But I guess you're trying to standardise the infobox for all these articles, so it's up to you whether or not to put that one in there. Also, one other quirk: in jus soli countries, parents have the practical discretion whether or not to register their children at the consulate --- if they don't, I think the children are not ROK citizens, and they also don't show up in the MOFAT statistics. A lot of parents choose not to register their children to try to avoid their sons getting drafted by the ROK army when they go back for holiday. cab (talk) 01:26, 9 November 2009 (UTC)

Orphaned references in Koreans in the United Kingdom
[edit]I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Koreans in the United Kingdom's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.
