1787 or 1788?
[edit]Secondary sources online appear to use both dates for completion, sometimes even on the same page. My guess is that the structure was basically complete in 1787 but that it never had a formal opening, it just gradually came into use as the interior was completed - thus, there probably isn't a definitive completion date.
