Religious Background

The term 'Christian fundamentalist' used to describe her parents may not really be NPOV.--HisSpaceResearch 13:05, 6 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Personally, I think the term "Christian Fundamentalist" needs to be removed - I can find no source to back up this assertion about her adoptive parents.

Wow

KY's pages are brilliant now, well done. :) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jesuisbryony (talkcontribs) 11:33, 23 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Disagreements

[edit]

There seem to be a bunch of reverts going on, with lots of information being contested. It would be good to see some evidence to anything that goes up. A lot of the contention seems to be about Ms Young's age, and since I'm not aware of any evidence in the public scope on this, doesn't it just seem more polite to the lady to stop speculating? If you're going to post her birthdate again, please supply evidence, instead of this revert war! I'm going to remove it again right now, for this reason, and because '0 of December' isn't even a real date.86.171.67.98 (talk) 15:51, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

June 2009 edit

[edit]

I just did an edit that was much bigger than I had intended; I had meant to take out the unsourced information (some of it common-knowledge to Young's fans, but not at all verifiable), tone down the heavily opinion and conjuncture-based sections, fix the headings (not sure "Meeting Visconti" and "Meeting Morrissey" summed it all up), more clearly differentiate the line between singer and near-eponymous band, and generally remove the fan-page-style writing.

I stand by most of what I did, which wound up being almost a complete edit, but I would welcome civil discussion on whether I was right to do the following:

-Omitted most of the details on, for example, the themes of X, which more properly belong on that album's page (or do they...?). The way I saw it, the thematic and formal discussion of the albums are for the album pages; this article is about the person (where the person's identity, as frontwoman of said near-eponymous band, admittedly tends to blur into the band's).

-Took out references to Young leaving Morrissey's tour in the autumn of '07. This is, first of all, a sourcing question: the circumstances by which Young was replaced have never actually been reported by a secondary source. The information all comes from posts on a fansite, one of them effectively anonymous, and the other Young's own statement saying why she was asked to leave and defending herself (but not stating, for example, who fired her; it was a comment rather than an informational statement). That isn't enough to satisfy wiki guidelines on sourcing; they demand published third-party sources (no blogs, no fansites), with primary ones (if reliably published) merely supporting them.

Also, I don't even think the incident meets notability guidelines. The guidelines make it clear that relationships do not confer notability, and surely that extends to Young being notable for her music (since she fulfills the "toured internationally" and "independent press coverage" categories, if not the "signed to a significant label for 2+ albums" one), but not for the collapse of her professional connection with Morrissey (unless there was some independent significance in it, which, outside of a very small community of people, there really isn't). In addition, guidelines for living-person biographies suggest that, when a difficult call presents itself, one ought to err on the side of neutrality.

I know, by the way, that a couple of my other sources are fan sites; I linked to a fan site's reprinting of a press article at one point, since the publication was defunct, and I sourced discography facts from the same one. I am looking for a replacement for the latter. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Alarmwillsound (talkcontribs) 07:24, 16 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

In addition to the above comment

[edit]

Will someone help me out on whether it's appropriate to use Amazon as a source? I couldn't think of anything else to verify the various labels, since it's not on the official site and only partly documented on fansites, but worry that commercial sites are excluded (can't find an appropriate guideline for this).

In general, it was hard to source this properly, but I think I've done it to a fair degree of rigor.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Alarmwillsound (talkcontribs) 07:41, 16 June 2009 (UTC) Alarmwillsound (talk) 07:52, 16 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

In case anyone wonders

[edit]

I nominated CSD:A7 (non-notability) because the article has seen no improvement in the six months since Kristeen herself nuked the majority of content establishing notability. I will be happy to forward all email discussions related to those deletions, as they happened, in real time, to OTRS to verify my assertion that the artist seems to prefer non-notability and wants to be "left alone." --Lexein (talk) 17:55, 15 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

How old is she? Even roughly?

[edit]

When was she born, is she in her 30s? 40s? 90s? 2.31.162.123 (talk) 10:40, 5 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
