He is actually a Macedonian. He was born in the village of Embore near Kajlari in Aegean Macedonia. He then moved to Bulgaria before he moved to Canada, thats why the source says "Bulgarian immigrant" and not Macedonian immigrant. He has also been interviewed on many multicultural TV programs where he stated he was a Macedonian and that he belonged to the Macedonian nation. However, because he arrived in Canada with Bulgarian citizenship, he is often portrayed as a Bulgarian by Bulgarians. Macedonia 03:21, 8 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It does not say he's ethnic Macedonian, just born in Macedonia. The EU-comission source describes him as Bulgarian. Plus why would he otherwise have the name of the Bulgarian khan Kroum?   /FunkyFly.talk_   04:49, 8 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Present day Greece?

[edit]

The Bulgarian article does not mention present day Greece. Here is a translation of the article via http://webtrance.skycode.com/online.asp?current=6&lang=en.

The Ottawa bulgarian-emigrant of Canada Krum Пиндов and his wife Eve bestowed yesterday 5 million dollars in aid of those who lived in misery from the shock and the tsunami in south Asia, told that your canadian television itself would. The check, grants the canadian red cross, the contribution, done once in the beneficent organization in Canada, is biggest personally. We age. We cannot take our money with us, 89--year old Пиндов that lives together with the 79--year old wife explains in Toronto. The people actually suffer, are hungry, die. I cannot sleep нощем, the millionaire music contractor adds. Eve from his country explained that she has cried away, when watching under the television the disclosure that has lost with the asian.

Nothing is mentioned about present day Greece. Alexander the great1 19:50, 3 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Paste the whole thing including the heading: "Роденият в Егейска Македония Крум Пиндов (89) от половин век живее в Канада" - Born in Aegean Macedonia... Mr. Neutron 19:57, 3 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Warning

[edit]

Stop vandalizing the article, read the site of the European commission which is provided next to the ethnicity link. Mr. Neutron 19:48, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It says nothing about ethnicity. It says he is a Bulgarian immigrant to Canada. That means he lived in Bulgaria and came to Canada. It does not say “ethnic Bulgarian”.Alexander the great1 19:57, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Do you want to pursue the same argument for "Macedonian immigrant" or "Japanese immigrant"? Mr. Neutron 19:58, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Btw, the "ethnic" is not necessary because "Bulgarian" does not need disambiguation, unlike "Macedonian". Mr. Neutron 20:00, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
If you are born in France. Lived in Japan and became a citizen, then came to Canada you would be a Japanese immigrant because that is the country you are coming from. You are not emigrating from France. You are a Japanese immigrant but an ethnic French person. Alexander the great1 20:02, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Straw man. Mr. Neutron 20:03, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes Bulgarian does need disambiguation because for a long time “Bulgarian” was used to describe all people of the Balkans regardless of ethnicity, like Greek Orthodox has been used to describe all Orthodox people. Alexander the great1 20:07, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong. Mr. Neutron 20:08, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Provide a source that describes him as a “Bulgarian” not a Bulgarian immigrant to Canada. Alexander the great1 20:12, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Bulgarian immigrant means a Bulgarian who immigrated, stop this ridiculousness! Mr. Neutron 20:13, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
How could he be Bulgarian if he was not born in Bulgaria. Alexander the great1 20:15, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Read some history. Almost all of what is present day Northern Greece was Bulgarian territory inhabited by Bulgarians during the time of his birth. 84.242.191.2 (talk) 09:29, 11 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I dont see you make this claim for John Bitove. Is he not Macedonian? Mr. Neutron 20:17, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
John Bitove is the son of John Bitove senior. He is openly Macedonian. Kroum Pindoff has supported the Macedonian cause as well. When the president of RoM was in Canada he was invited by Bitove to support a fundraiser for Macedonia. He has never claimed to be Bulgarian only Macedonian. He was even on the Macedonian TV show in Canada talking about his Macedonian heritage.Alexander the great1 20:22, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You are beginning to troll and I am not continuing this pointless debate. Mr. Neutron 20:28, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Then how come Kroum has a Bulgarian name (a name that is not used in RoM cause of its Bulgarianess) ? How come he has supported so many Bulgarians and is thankful to a Bulgarian hospital? I'll show you the sources for these if you are interested. How come he took part in World War II as part of the Bulgarian army? I have provided you with 3 really good reasons why he is to be mentioned as a Bulgarian Canadian and you have provided none for your ... hmmm ... cause. Your arguments start to get more than silly, I have to say. --Laveol T 17:51, 6 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Kroum Pindoff's origin.

[edit]

The real name of Kroum Pindoff is Tilemahos Pindis. He was born in Emporio-Western Macedonia-Greece.He immigrated by force in Bulgaria where his name was changed to the Bulgarian version. His relatives-from his father's brother branch- live today in Emporio, Thessaloniki and Epanomi in Greece, under their real surname Pindis. The etymology of the name refers to the Pindos mountains of Western Greece. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Epanomitis (talkcontribs) 22:27, 9 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

How did he emigrate by force when this village was never under Bulgarian occupation? Kostja (talk) 09:51, 23 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
