This seems like an advertisement, in any case not up to Wikipedia standards. Text appears copied from this page: http://www.kalifornistan.com/Main/LFF.html (linked in references, but also copied verbatim). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 134.48.112.66 (talk) 23:38, 30 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Absolutely right. I've reverted to an older version of the page. Hopefully I'll be able to get round to writing something more neutral and without the copyright violation issues. Ka Faraq Gatri (talk) 12:23, 27 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

MPA, AFR

[edit]

The 2 links in the See also are "peripherally relevant" as per WP:SEEALSO. Of the 8 tributes hosted by Liberty, all of the honorees were members of the MPA except 1. Both Liberty and AFR are conservative film festivals. Note that links in the See also "do not have to be directly related." – Lionel (talk) 10:43, 20 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thorpe, I looked at the links and agree with Lionel—they are at least "peripherally relevant"—so, I'm putting them back (and adding one!). --Kenatipo speak! 23:22, 20 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Kenatipo, as I explained to Lionelt, the Liberty Film Festival really has nothing whatsoever to do with the Motion Picture Alliance, an organization that stems from the 1940s and 1950s that wasn't even a film festival. In fact, the Liberty Film Festival once explicitly held an event denouncing the original Hollywood blacklist and the Motion Picture Alliance's role in it - so it's sort of perverse to associate the Liberty Film Festival with the Alliance. Nor does the Liberty Film Festival have anything to do with Friends of Abe, which is a minor dinner group. I have no difficulty in imagining a category called Conservatism in Hollywood. All 3 See also's are conservative, so that's how they're relevant. But, I guess we'll have to wait for consensus to build for their inclusion. Speaking purely as a user of the encyclopedia, Lionelt's "See also"s were helpful to me—they lead me to related articles that told me about the activities of Hollywood conservatives, past and present, and to the Friends of Abe article which I knew nothing about. From that perspective alone, the "See also"s were useful. --Kenatipo speak! 20:11, 21 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
And that was my intent of adding the links: to give the reader access to more content.WP:SEEALSO explicitly supports this. Seealso's are frequently used to link to articles which are in opposition. Thorpe: I think you're making too big a deal about this. My record and reputation for improving articles relating to conservatism are impeccable (as are Kenatipo's btw). What specifically is your objection to the links? Is there a policy that you can cite? – Lionel (talk) 00:06, 22 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
If there are no objections, I'll restore the See also--waited over a week for Thorpe.– Lionel (talk) 11:12, 31 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
No objection here! --Kenatipo speak! 16:48, 31 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
