Great Article, provides a good overview of Tulsa architecture. (Tulsaschoolboard 16:08, 5 June 2007 (UTC))[reply]

I agree. Impressive list and nice pictures. This could be a featured list with more pictures and a more comprehensive listing of art deco structures. (Aassuming from my little knowledge of the subject that the list isnt completely comprehensive as of yet) Okiefromoklatalk 19:21, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Goal[edit]

It is my aim to take this to feature lists. What needs to be done in my mind is the following:

  • An intro needs to be written.
  • We should determine what should be on the list. Biggest question is demolished buildings. I left those I know to be gone off, but some slipped through. When I was out getting pictures last week I went to one site and found a Hillcrest Hospital parking lot. We should also try to make it as comprehnsive as possible. My thought is everything still standing on this list, and this list, plus everything still standing mentioned in Tulsa Art Deco by David Gebhard (both editions, 1984 and 2001) should be comprehensive enough. It will be difficult to find sources on anything else. I know that this will miss some things. (For example, I friend of mine just moved out of an Art Deco style house he built in the late 80s that is not on any of these lists.)
  • It needs to be fully referenced, along the lines of the Eleventh Street bridge entry in the Zig Zag
  • Pictures need to be taken, or found, for all of the buildings. I will be doing this over the course of the summer.
  • The architect column needs to be filled in. This can be done pretty easily from the sources I've found.
  • Articles need to written for most, if not all, of the linkable terms. This would include all of NRHP sites at a minimum, and many of the architects when they are added. I'm not sure that the rest of the buildings would survive AfD as free-standing articles, but I'm willing to test where the limits are. I think some things that aren't on the NRHP, like the Tulsa Monument Co. Building and the Warehouse Market could survive. The houses would be more iffy, and might depend on who the architect or original owner was. When you get to Day and Night Cleaners or the City Veterinary Clinic, I'm pretty certain they wouldn't survive an AfD (Although I am willing to try.)

I certainly welcome any help on any of these tasks that any one wants to offer. Dsmdgold 00:32, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

PS, this list is as comprehensive as I can make it, at the present. Dsmdgold 00:35, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds like a plan to me.↔NMajdantalk 20:45, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I like this list already. It shouldn't be too hard to accomplish those goals. I'll try to help out where I can. Okiefromoklatalk 16:40, 8 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Update[edit]

I think this list now contains every site mentioned in David Gebhard, Tulsa Art Deco (2001). Unless I find a source with a more extensive listing, I will consider this list complete. I decided to list the demolished site as well, as some of them were very important to the architectural history of Tulsa. This list also contains a few things that are not buildings (The Shakespeare Monument, the Arkansas River Bridge, and the Oak Lawn gates. If we want to technically correct we might want to move this to "List of Art Deco monuments in Tulsa, Oklahoma" or List of Art Deco buildings and structures in Tulsa, Oklahoma. My next project is filling in the architect pages. Next week, weather permitting, I hope to get another half dozen or so pics. Dsmdgold 02:56, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I know absolutely nothing about this subject, but this may be one of the buildings on the list: http://www.flickr.com/photos/timothymorgan/47134446/ If so, let me know, and I'll add it to the commons. Tim Morgan 19:59, 19 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This is the Southwestern Bell Main Dial Building, (see here) and uploading this to commons wold be very helpful, thank you. Dsmdgold 21:09, 19 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Are you, by any chance, going to get a pic of the 11th street bridge anytime soon? I may be over there in a few days and I'll have to recharge my camera if we need a pic for it still. Okiefromoklatalk 04:38, 30 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I won't be by there anytime soon, so please do get a pic if you can. Dsmdgold 00:32, 31 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Change to quality rating[edit]

As I understand the Quality rating, this page should be rated as list rather than as a stub. I have made this change. Bruin2 (talk) 18:55, 7 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
