Colonies?

[edit]

I find there is insufficient explanation either in the intro or anywhere else in this list as to why localities or districts constitute colonies - we already have a category - do we really need this list? And it was first tagged architecture - penal colony-architecture? - maybe I am missing something here - surely it should have been titled Australian convict penitentaries - or up for Afd - one or the other SatuSuro 12:28, 24 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'd completely forgotten about this article. When created, the intention was to expand it beyond a list of names by having details such as establishment dates, population data, locations etc. With the the course of time and the absence of a reasonable opening with an inclusion criteria its worthiness is suspect. I'm happy for this to be {{prod}}ed. —Moondyne 13:07, 24 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I await persons finding articles I have started and forgotten :|
My original suggestion here was that it was re-named to fit to the specific localities - rather than colonies - and to make it tie in and or link to the since developed articles about convicts in australian regions/states
However - the list of colonies would be different again - as they were specifically different from what is listed in this list - there is always room to cleanup the list be removing most of the list and specifically putting the colonies (and not the locations) in the list SatuSuro 13:19, 24 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
