English titles[edit]

I’ve always wondered about the English titles, what is the (con)census for them?; when official English titles exist I guess they are used, but before/other than that, are the fansub translations, free translations, or other translations used?

For example, episode 31 is titled “迷子のミランダ” Maigo no Miranda. Previously the English title said “Miranda’s Lost Child” (which rather, as far as I know, should be “ミランダの迷子” Miranda no maigo) and now “Lost Child, Miranda”. If it’s just free translations then a title such as “Miranda the Lost Child” is yet another possibility.

Well, I’m just a bit confused about what’s the rule/census/concensus/norm. A bit of clarity would surely make me grateful. Kess 20:18, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I would guess that whoever edits the article on any given day is probably either using their own personal translation or a translation from a fansub. It's unfortunate, but this is the case with nearly all series that aren't officially licensed or necessarily "reliably" translated. That said, getting the "gist" of the name is more important, rather than worrying about phrasing or synonyms or making a more elegant translation. I would personally translate that as, "The Lost Child, Miranda," but it doesn't really matter, because it means the same thing as, "Miranda, the Lost Child." Who the hell put bye bye Suman on episode 55[edit]

This has nothing to do with the description of the episode and should be removed immediately. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.36.239.224 (talk) 03:18, 6 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Seasons?[edit]

Should I (or someone) split the episodes into seasons? I know the anime hasn't been going on for very long, but still, scrolling down 72 episodes with no real form of categorization whatsoever is an eye killer, and the episode list is only going to get longer. I don't mean splitting the episode page into multiple separate pages like Bleach has done; just doing something like, for example, The Prince of Tennis or Blood+ would be fine. Just a thought-- Erynne Lasgalen (talk) 02:30, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Is an official source for season divisions available? If so, sounds like a good idea to me. AnmaFinotera (talk) 07:16, 26 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know of any official source, but I think the easiest way to divide the episodes is by opening theme song (e.g. the Blood+ episode list). That way there'll be three chunks of 20-something episodes each, as well as the ongoing section. Erynne Lasgalen (talk) 04:20, 1 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That would work too. AnmaFinotera (talk) 05:38, 1 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I've had this draft sitting in my userspace for eternity :p Sephiroth BCR (Converse) 05:40, 1 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
LOL, nice head start :) AnmaFinotera (talk) 05:46, 1 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Clear it up[edit]

I'm realizing that a few of these episodes are a bit unclear and confusing. At least for me. Especially episode 69 "Invasion", for some reason. It took several tries for me to understand that one. It could be me. I notice a few of them make tense changes. itzjustdrama still new to this (talk) 19:53, 9 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm working on gradually correcting the episode summaries--mainly on improving content relevance, correcting tense shifts, correcting basic spelling/grammar, and deleting random opinions. It's mainly a matter of keeping it a summary and not making it a blow-by-blow account of the episode. Erynne Lasgalen (talk) 04:59, 19 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Correspondent Manga Chapter[edit]

Who took away that thing that informed us of wether an episode was filler (original plot) or canon (telling us what the corresponding manga chapter was) and why? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.241.163.185 (talk) 20:54, 8 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It doesn't belong here. AnmaFinotera (talk) 21:09, 8 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I can't see why it shouldn't be here, but anyway, can someone tell me where I might be able to find that info? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.241.173.40 (talk) 21:41, 9 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
We don't put that kind of information in anime episode/chapter articles other than giving a general overview in the introduction if it is not based on the entire body of work. Might check fansites, or ask in an anime forum. AnmaFinotera (talk) 00:07, 10 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

but could to put one page, for example: "what chapters did this episodes cover?", something like that. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mystictapion (talkcontribs) 18:15, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Again, no. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 18:27, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Do you think that the list should have two pages?[edit]

I think the list is too long. If two pages, we can add more information.--Frontier95 (talk) 06:33, 29 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Is it too long? Yes, and it should probably be split, as appropriate, once a final episode sound is known, and an appropriate way of splitting the list determined. Will splitting mean you can add more information? No. The plot summaries are already pushing their limits, and splitting it will not give free reign to make them longer. The only thing splitting will do is make the list more manageable in terms of page size/length. AnmaFinotera (talk) 13:00, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe, we can seperate them to series. As you know, from Episode 52 is the second series. --Frontier95 (talk) 04:33, 30 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Is that where the DVD start being called 2nd Stage? That seems to be our best bet, at the moment. But I don't believe it's the most important issue in the D.Gray-man series of articles or on this page itself. But I guess it would be okay. Itzjustdrama (drama?) 04:39, 30 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

By the way, I think I'm going to use the lead on User:Sephiroth BCR/List of D.Gray-man episodes (season 1) as a model for this one, mainly because it sounds better. I believe if you're going to split the page you should know that. Itzjustdrama (drama?) 04:42, 30 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I edited some things up[edit]

First, I erased the freaking long description of before, well if you want cleaning take off that meaningless info about the openings and endings, that really isn't supposed to be here, it's already at its respective section.

Second, I added again the manga chapters which where originally added by me, it's really insultive taking off my aport, that took me ages watching every single episode and checking every chapter, so I wrote it all again and added the missing manga chapter tags to the recent chapters, even the one aired yesterday.

Please don't erase it, it's helpful information and It doesn't take too much space. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.77.225.72 (talk) 03:07, 22 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, but no. Its been undone as you are wrong on both accounts. Its already been discussed above. The themes info does belong here, as you can see if you look at any featured episode list. It is part of any proper episode list, and I've left you a warning for removing it. And no, it is not in its "respective section" it is here and here alone. The manga chapters do not belong in the episode list at all, again as you will see if you look at our featured list. This is the consensus of the anime and manga project here and many featured lists. Wikipedia is not the place for your original research. Do not readd it as you will just continue to be wasting effort as it will continue to be removed. It does not belong here, period. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 03:10, 22 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, seems that please and thanks doesn't work anymore .__.
Then, summaries aren't original research too? none of those are official, they're written by people who watch, they're anything but short as the tag says really. I'm not doing a manga chapter list, I ADDED IT RELATING the anime episode at the respective source, which can be more accurate than a summary, a person can check the number and then check the original source.
It's not a thing of belongs or not, the info you put must be helpful for someone. Well, airdates are helpful? they were just copied and pasted from other sources and don't make a particular difference.
The opening and ending info format is wrong, works better as a LIST, more intuitive. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.77.225.72 (talk) 03:25, 22 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Please and thanks do not work when you are asking for improper actions to be allowed. And no, plot summaries are not original research, so long as they are simple basic plot summaries. They are unspokenly sourced to the manga volumes. The attempts to stick which manga chapter an episode is based on does not belong in the table at all. Besides being your own self-admitted research, it is irrelevant and trivial. It being based on the manga is covered in the lead, and that's all. We don't go into minute detail about every episode. Helpful is not really a criteria we use for such things. If you want such a list, go to a fansite, as noted above. The episode list is in its proper format. We are not a fansite nor an in-depth guide to the series. We are an encyclopedia. Airdates are part of its real-world aspects, and it belongs here as part of that. The opening and ending info format is not wrong, it is properly done in prose as per our editing guidelines. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 03:31, 22 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The Twins[edit]

Okay, there has been many edits to this article over the names of the Noah Twins. According to Viz Media, it is actually Jasdevi and David actually. You and I may disagree with the company, but until they say otherwise, that is that. itzjustdrama (talk) 00:06, 29 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Can you source that? If you have issues with David, that's something about translation. I'm guessing that is in fact your point, but I'm more worried about you calling Jasdero Jasdevi, since that's the name of em combined and not of one of the twins. --MooNFisH (talk) 16:28, 29 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Nobody seems to have a problem with what Jasdero is called. I meant that they are collectively Jasdevi and one is David, sorry if that was unclear. How would I source? itzjustdrama (talk) 18:57, 29 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Y'know what? I went over the Wikipedia:Manual of Style (anime- and manga-related articles). And it says, Characters should be identified by their most commonly known name, as per Wikipedia's naming conventions. This may not necessarily be the same as the official name(s). Following that, maybe we should go either Devit or Debitto, making them either Jasdevi or Jasdebi collectively. And them mention VIZ translation underneath. itzjustdrama (talk) 20:01, 29 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
For sourcing, pointing to a volume of the manga (perhaps even a specific page) where the name comes up should suffice. Regarding which name to use, I would say use Viz's translation, because that's what the person who picks up the manga in a retail store would see, but that's only my interpretation of the MOS. (Admittedly, I don't really care anymore.) —tc 20:09, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

Okay then. Lemme go fix all that up. Honestly, I'm tired of it too.itzjustdrama (talk) 20:44, 29 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

DVDs?[edit]

Am I right in thinking DVD information is usually placed on a page like this? I found a list of released DVD here Itzjustdrama (drama?) 17:07, 21 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Lead[edit]

The reason I put the number of episodes in the lead was because the featured episodes lists did the same. The same with the themes written in prose form. I believe that should be restored. And that information is crucial and should be easily accessible. The lead is the most accessible part of the article as it is at the top. Itzjustdrama (drama?) 02:43, 27 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Omakes[edit]

Should we put when they started with the omakes? I believe it starts on episode 52. Anonomous#2 00:40, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

It doesn't really contribute anything to the article and the topic. So I believe we shouldn't add them. Itzjustdrama? 00:44, 15 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

D.Gray-man Ending?[edit]

Is D.Gray-man being cancelled or on a indefinite hiatus after episode 103? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 147.4.230.79 (talk) 05:31, 17 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I believe after episode 103 is a third series.--Frontier95 (talk) 08:08, 20 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
There is sufficient evidence there is and there isn't going to be a 104th episode. The best is to wait and see right now. Itzjustdrama? 14:21, 20 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Episode 103's trailer name it "last episode", which didn't happen at the end of season 1. 90.27.80.222 (talk) 15:58, 26 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Seperating parts[edit]

You do know D. Gray-man has series, right? Please seperate writing series 1 to episode 1 to 51. 52 starts with series 2. Start a new box with third series from episode 104. --Frontier95 (talk) 08:10, 20 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There isn't going to be a third series, per se, but a third season. Just clearing that up. Itzjustdrama? 14:25, 20 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Clean-up[edit]

Although a WP:FT or WP:GT is a long-term project, I believe that this article needs to be attended to right away. I could probably do some copy-editing or take a knife to the episode summaries. Itzjustdrama? 01:23, 22 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Manga[edit]

It should be mentioned that

  • Season One covers tankoban 1-5
  • Season Two covers tankoban 5-16

70.55.86.100 (talk) 17:25, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Not without a source. This proposal has been raised before in regards to other chapter and episode lists, and it's been decided that generally, this information is unsuitable for inclusion without a reference, and even then, it should only be mentioned in the lead IIRC. —Dinoguy1000 18:32, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The Japanese article does have this info, and it fits quite nicely. It's both a counterargument to AnmaFinotera and others who insist such information is unsuitable, and a notice to those seeking this info. --Dr.Koljan (talk) 17:03, 27 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It's not about whether the info "fits quite nicely", it's about sourcing it reliably - otherwise, it's just a bunch of original research, regardless of how obvious it may seem to you or anyone else. ダイノガイ?!」(Dinoguy1000) 20:16, 27 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Season One's List[edit]

What happened to "List of D.Gray-man episodes season 1? Why does it shows the link and do not open it out? --Frontier95 (talk) 11:59, 19 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Could you be more specific? I don't see any problem with it - it's displaying exactly as it should, both here and on its sublist. ダイノガイ?!」(Dinoguy1000) 20:10, 19 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

English Adaptation[edit]

Has the English version started airing?--Frontier95 (talk) 15:25, 24 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I personally don't think it's airing, instead it's being released over four DVDs. ~Itzjustdrama C ? 19:25, 24 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

D.Gray-Man arcs[edit]

Does anyone have a list of the arcs of D.Gray-Man? - 84.189.252.105 (talk) 19:28, 22 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

question about DVD releases[edit]

Does anyone know if the rest of the episodes will be released on DVD? It looks like only the first 51 epsisodes have been released.
