Inappropriate listings

[edit]

There appear to be a great many people on this list who do not meet the general notability requirements. With little exception, lists of alumni students humans who once attended the school should only include persons who have met the notability requirement. LonelyBeacon (talk) 16:21, 27 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Done. I have removed all listings without a wikilink to a page for the person listed. If anyone wants to add back any of these people, make sure you link to their Wikipedia page, which shows that the person is notable, per the article's stated criterion. – Jonesey95 (talk) 12:57, 3 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with LonelyBeacon's assessment. WP:LISTBIO covers this situation nicely. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 18:00, 3 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Also WP:LISTPEOPLE, another guideline. – Jonesey95 (talk) 20:15, 3 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

This Talk page is very recent, like the sudden decision "taken by three people" to delete a load of content from the OEs page.

Travis Knightley Wallace unable to 'sign' since like so much else tech-related, it involves copying code and numbers in specific order and memorizing that. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Travis Knightley Wallace (talkcontribs)

If by "recent", you mean that concerns were raised in 2011, then yes, the concerns were raised recently. As for the timing of the edits, that is not material, because the content that was removed was contrary to Wikipedia guidelines. As I said above, if anyone wants to add back any of these people, make sure you link to their Wikipedia page, which shows that the person is notable, per the article's stated criterion. Anyone is absolutely welcome to add any Old Emanuels who have Wikipedia articles back to this list. – Jonesey95 (talk) 23:55, 3 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Use of 'Sir', 'Professor' etc

[edit]

I find the use of titles such as 'Sir', 'Professor' etc in the list - while polite and no doubt proper - to be an obstruction in finding the actual Name of the person you are searching for. It creates clutter. I think these titles are best saved for the article on that person - e.g. Tim Berners Lee. And I also agree with the above comment on Inappropriate Listings - there are too many non-notable people on the list. ixo (talk) 18:11, 9 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Non-notable entries

[edit]

Non-notable entries should not be added to this list per the clear guideline at WP:LISTPEOPLE. IronGargoyle (talk) 02:32, 27 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
