Character Names[edit]

I would suggest that characters names should only be what is listed on the credits. Alternate identities should wait until those alternate identities are revealed to keep any "Montana/Shocker" errors out. Suggestions/Discussion? --CrzyJen (talk) 15:11, 22 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You have a point. We'll leave out any character that has not appeared yet and remove said alternate identities until it is said on screen. --Vinnyvinny2 (talk) 15:21, 22 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Should we go with just "on screen" or count teasers and news reveals? Maybe just keep those tidbits on the main page? I'll leave that one up to you. --CrzyJen (talk) 15:45, 22 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
We'll leave future information on the main page. --Vinnyvinny2 (talk) 15:50, 22 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Format of List[edit]

The list of characters has become far too long, as we can see with the nav box at the top. I suggest that we convert character names to bullets rather than headers to make it more manageable. Something closer to how the Venture Bros. character page is handled. Jbetteridge (talk) 22:06, 20 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If you can make it work, it would look nice. Rau's Speak Page 22:57, 20 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Some thought does need to go into how this should be organised. GoonersWCCF (talk) 13:23, 12 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, now that season 2 is ending, I feel that some serious thought needs to be put into reorganizing this page. I definitely feel that that, for the sake of keeping things concise, the "Main Cast" list should be restricted specifically to characters who appear in the opening credits. Likewise, the supporting cast is in serious need of reorganization. With characters like Sandman and Molten Man carrying shades of gray, not to mention characters like Curt Connors/The Lizard, this series really blurs the lines of what actually constitutes a "bad guy". As such, I don't think that the "Villains/Allies" subdivisions are appropriate. A better way of handling this may be to combine them, but make a separate subdivision for characters who have made only minor appearances or cameos (ie: Morris Bench, Cletus Cassidy, Roderick Kingsley).
Also, I think that brief summaries for the "Main Cast" should be posted on the main SSM page to fill out the character section. That's the format that most other animated series' seem to follow. Pepperidge (talk) 20:24, 17 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Since there has been no discussion on this subject and the character page is a mess, I am going to go ahead and begin reorganizing. Please provide any input. Does anyone think this page should warrant multiple pages at some point? I'd like to see it work without resorting to that, but it may be necessary due to the show's large cast Pepperidge (talk) 03:32, 19 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Harry and the Goblin[edit]

Harry was revealed to be the Goblin in "The Uncertainty Principle," so why do their bios keep getting seperated? The Goblin was a split personality of Harry's and that's why he is under Harry's bio. And I know there is still some dicussion that Norman was really the Goblin but set Harry up, but that's just discussion, so until otherwise, Harry Osborn is the Green Goblin.12.37.71.151 (talk) 16:33, 4 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You're right, the Goblin should be a subsect of Harry. It was even confirmed in an IGN interview that Harry was GG. *SIGN* 21:13, 4 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

In episode 26 it is confirmed that the Green Goblin is, and always has been, Norman Osborn. That should be the end of that mystery. Jbetteridge (talk) 04:31, 18 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Image copyright problem with Image:TombstoneSpectacularSpiderMan2.png[edit]

Angry about my editing this article[edit]

Who deleted most of the work I did updating the character's biographies up until "Subtext"? I spent forever on that, and I'll now have to type it all up again! Themeparkfanatic (talk) 21:20, 16 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It wasn't me, but I really don't think that we should be giving extensive episode-by-episode biographies for each character. Do you seriously think that there's enough room on this page for that, especially if the series last for 65 episodes? Jbetteridge (talk) 18:15, 19 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Discussions about the characters[edit]

Hello you lot, I've decided to put this up. Reason: there are some of you who put characters on without showing any proof that they will appear and you come up with theories that this will happened to that characters, such as for the upcoming season 3.

So before any of you lot put names & theories that it will happened, then put it here, then prove it & discuss it if its true. SilentmanX (talk) 00:45, 29 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Separate Pages for Main Characters, Supporting/Minor Characters, and Villains[edit]

This page has become far too long. I propose that we break the character listings into three categories: Main Characters (containing ONLY characters who appear in the opening credits), Supporting Characters (with a brief listing of minor characters), and Villains. In the case of characters like Norman Osborn and Curt Connors, this may require splitting the articles. Jbetteridge (talk) 18:05, 25 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

To whoever keeps adding Eddie Brock to this page[edit]

Please note that the decision to only include characters who appear in the opening credits on the main characters page is not one made for the sake of favouritism, but rather for the sake of keeping things organized. What really qualifies as a "main character" is extremely subjective, so firm qualifications need to be applied for the sake of easier reference. I'm not saying it's the best system; personally, I really think that Aunt May and Uncle Ben should be added to the main characters page, but if I did that than any standards we try to apply would fly right out the window. Likewise, if in future seasons EVERY character starts showing up in the main credits, then a different categorization system would have to be implemented. But rest assured, the second that Eddie Brock shows up in the opening credits for the series, he'll be added to this page. Jbetteridge (talk) 00:15, 13 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

There is no reason that the character list for this television series needs to span three pages. The unsourced information on these pages needs to be curtailed and List of Spectacular Spider-Man supporting characters and List of Spectacular Spider-Man villains should be merged here. Neelix (talk) 18:48, 25 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I do agree that something needs to be done with these The Spectacular Spider-Man character articles. They feel more fan based than Wikipedia worthy. I do agree that merging might be a good idea but if so they might need to be trimmed. Jhenderson 777 14:13, 27 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
