Ethnicity lists discussion
[edit]Please see discussion at Wikipedia:Village pump (policy) for current discussion of a potential policy to apply to all ethnicity lists on Wikipedia, including this one. JackO'Lantern 20:34, 11 April 2006 (UTC)
Sources
[edit]I have sourced the list in accordance with Wikipedia's Original Research and Verifiability policies. Basically, anyone described by a reliable source as "Swiss" or "Swiss American" (i.e. as opposed to "of Swiss descent") is on the list. Here are the few people I couldn't find anything for. If you have a source that fits that please restore the names:
- Robert Abplanalp
- Rene Auberjonois
- Robert Baer
- Yul Brynner - also need proof that he is American
- Frank Carlucci
- James Caviezel
- Tracy Chevalier
- Billie Dove
- George Gallup
- Charles Wister Groff
- Ulysses Grant Groff
- Benjamin Guggenheim
- Jeff Hostetler
- Cyndi Lauper
- George Lucas
- Michelle Pfeiffer
- Don Piccard
- Rob Portman
- Kenneth A. Schmied
- Ryan Seacrest
- Meryl Streep
- Paul Westerberg
- Renée Zellweger
- Felix Zollicoffer

Explain
[edit]Here's your chance, Badagnani. Explain what you still don't get. If you don't respond here, this all but qualifies your "please discuss in talk" edit summaries as affectedness. Bulldog123 (talk) 04:45, 13 September 2008 (UTC)
Swiss descent

Article organisation
[edit]The sorting by occupation is difficult to do in a consistent way. Better to transform the entire thing into a single sortable table, with the following columns,
- name
- birth/death dates
- place of birth
- descent (partial/full Swiss descent or Swiss-born)
- occupation / description of notability
- reference in footnote
This way, the table can be sorted by name, date or descent and we don't need to rely on dubious categorizations like "arts and entertainment > other" etc. --dab (𒁳) 10:38, 10 November 2016 (UTC)
