Where to go from here[edit]

So the AfD closed with no consensus. As a fervent delete voter I'm pessimistic for the future of this article, but I think it's best to recognize that a number of voters (mainly those outside the Pro Wrestling wikiproject) see potential for this. I suggest we leave the article for a few months to see how things go. If the article remains a mess, we can aim for a new consensus (redirect to Professional wrestling championship makes sense to me).LM2000 (talk) 02:30, 19 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Nice. Right now, I see a title with an incorrect champion. Let's see. --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 13:28, 19 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I am the one who put this page together and I see your comments and believe titles that have the proper information meaning (date and event) the title was won should be the only titles listed as long as there are from major promotions and big named Indy promotions like Dragongate USA, NWA, ROH... etc I see that HHH Pedrigree has added titles without any proper information as well as titles that aren't part of any major or major Indy promotions I think he should fix some things JMichael22 (talk) 15:20, 1 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Nope. As we discussed in the AfD, the article talks about ALL champions in wrestling (major promotions, notable indy promotions and less notable indy promotions). The users who voted to keep the article said there is no problem to include every champion in the world. All title I put are NOTABLE, because the promotions have articles. As I said, if you choose some promotions, it's your subjetive criteria. --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 15:41, 1 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
For example, you included Dragon Gate titles. Why did you forget DGUSA, FIP or CHIKARA? Cas you explain to us your criteria to select some promotions and fotget others? All titles I included belong to promotions from the USA Wrestling template. --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 15:44, 1 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I wasn't done making the page yet there was still more I needed too do so that's the reason why DGUSA, FIP, CHIKARA, Ohio Valley Wrestling and other company's weren't on there yet JMichael22 (talk) 17:40, 1 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I included them. Problem? --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 19:12, 1 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You made things look like a mess you added random titles of company's that hold no substantial recognition, you added no events where the titles were won you didn't correctly do anything worth making things look professional for this article JMichael22 (talk) 20:22, 1 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

As we discussed in the AfD (which you don't appeared) the article is List of current professional wrestling champions. That means, ALL current champions in the ENTIRE world. I only added titles held by promotions we listed in the template:pro wrestling in USA. All of them are notable. Thats the problem with the list we talked about, we can't talk about major indy promotions or promotions without recognition, we talk about NOTABLE promotions and all of them are notable because they are in Wikipedia. --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 21:10, 1 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
No substantial recognition? What makes you the judge of that? Wikipedia isn't a place for original research. In the past we had a separate article for world heavyweight championships. We merged that to Professional wrestling championship because, among several reasons, we couldn't list only the ones we believe to be major because that violated OR and WP:NPOV but listing every world championship was a mess. This article doesn't just cover world championships, it covers ALL current championships. I was willing to admit that the consensus was split, meaning we should give this article a shot, but when HHH Pedigree tries to address some of the concerns mentioned in the AfD and you scold them for it that makes me double down on my earlier apprehension.LM2000 (talk) 03:26, 2 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
By the way, since you missed the AfD I recommend you read up on it so you understand our concerns. Here is the world heavyweight championship discussion in case that is of any interest to you as well.LM2000 (talk) 03:28, 2 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
We talked about the major problem of the article. We have to include every title in the world if the promotion has an article. All the titles I put, I took them from the articles. We can't watch all the titles. Small promotions, like WXW, IWA or WWC, haven't the articles updated. For example, World Xtreme Wrestling. I found the article and I updated it, [1] including 6 new titles. --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 21:14, 1 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Given this, I think we all agree that deletion is the best way to go. Either that or a redirect to Professional wrestling championship.LM2000 (talk) 19:48, 18 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

First of all, JMichael22's edits to the AFD have been reverted. The AFD was closed almost a month ago. This means you need to leave it be and initiate a new AFD if you feel there has been a change in consensus. Given the very first comment in this thread ("I suggest we leave the article for a few months to see how things go"), perhaps you're rushing things.
Second, I'm not so sure I'm buying this argument about which promotions should or shouldn't be included. It's been long pointed out that Professional wrestling authority figures dwells rather excessively on WWE and TNA. This despite the fact that most all promotions have storyline authority figures, and in many cases legit authority figures who figure into storylines, such as athletic commissioners. Editing activity on that article only exacerbates the problem rather than fixing it. RadioKAOS / Talk to me, Billy / Transmissions 23:26, 18 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe we should wait a few month. Michaels made an easy article from a very complex idea. He only update the most common promotions (as he said, the major promotions and big named indy promotions), but the article should talk about all of active titles in the world. About the authority figures, I tought a long time ago to create separate articles:AF in WWE, AF in TNA... --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 00:01, 19 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I suggested we start this discussion again based on the fact that only three of us were involved in an active discussion on this talk page and with Michael waving the white flag it seemed that majority support shifted in another direction. I'd be happy to continue waiting longer to see if things improve though. We probably should start a discussion on the authority figures article. Much like how this article has extant smaller articles like List of current champions in WWE and List of current champions in TNA Wrestling, splitting authority figures by promotion might be a good idea. That article is also a mess and it's a mess we've neglected for quite some time. LM2000 (talk) 00:14, 19 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
