Untitled[edit]

I added this section because the editors of Marin County, California can't agree on criteria for inclusion and consequently, 25% of the article tends to get devoted to the list of celebrities or pseudo-celebrities that formerly lived in the County. Move?[edit]

This is a useful list, but I think that it should be moved to something like List of people from Marin County, California. I think that people connected to Marin who are only marginally notable, or who are notable but not sufficiently covered in published works to create an article, could be included here along with whatever encyclopedic information is available, if they don't fit into an article about a place, school, or organization better.--Hjal 16:53, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Done. The word "Notable" in article titles should be avoided per WP:BIO, so there's no reason not to make this move. Torc2 (talk) 01:46, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

List contents[edit]

I disagree with a requirement that individuals must have (or "deserve") a WP article in order to be added to the list. Some examples of exceptions: former County officials, business owners, developers, newspapermen, and others who were significant in Marin's history, but about whom too little is known to justify an article, could be better off in this list than in a permastub; people after whom physical features in Marin County were named might be worth listing here, especially if their geographic feature is not the subject of an article (who was the White who had a hill named after him? Who was Throckmorton?); Californios (virtually any with a source); native peoples of the mission era and before (any with a source). Some of these could be spun off into a separate list, which might be comprehensive, rather than selective. Regardless, all should have reliable sources that show why they should be listed.--Hjal (talk) 06:21, 10 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Jill Eikenberry and Michael Tucker?[edit]

Don't Jill Eikenberry and Michael Tucker live in Marin? If so, please add them. Softlavender (talk) 09:08, 28 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Threshold for association[edit]

What is the threshold for someone being "strongly associated" with Marin. Van Morrison lived in Fairfax for a few years in the 70s, and he's in the list. I wouldn't say that is a particularly strong association. Many of the other names are similar.

The list may as well be called "People who have owned or rented real estate in Marin at some point during their lives". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 43.226.229.25 (talk) 01:55, 10 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

In the case of Van Morrison, you are mistaken. He owned a record store (or his parents did) in ... San Anselmo ? for years, he played all over the place in little night spots just because he happened to be wandering around, if you went out much at all you were liable to run into him. But about some of the rest, you are probably correct ... seems like a pretty dumb list when you come right down to it 210.22.142.82 (talk) 12:16, 25 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
