A tiny detail

[edit]

In the grade column shouldn't B use a blue colour instead of a green one, since B is eqivalent to Grade II*?--Aldux (talk) 14:04, 14 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Good spot – thanks; I've corrected this (and the hidden sort key). Hassocks5489 (tickets please!) 20:12, 14 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Some quibbles

[edit]

There may, or may not be, some minor mistakes:

  • Abbey Church (in full "Abbey Church of our Lady Help of Christians") has been listed in 2007 as Grade II [1]
  • St Bartholomew at Albourne is according to IoE Grade II and not Grade I.
  • If I read correctly, the Mission on the Green at Horsted Keynes, i.e. "Horsted Keynes Mission Hall", is also listed [2].
  • There may also be, but I'm not sure chapels count, the Chapel of St Francis' Hospital. [3].

Ciao, --Aldux (talk) 17:04, 3 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

All corrected; thanks (note left at Aldux's talk page as well). At the moment, I'm not intending to include hospital chapels or convents in this list, although this could change in future. Hassocks5489 (tickets please!) 22:32, 3 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Order in tables

[edit]

Just a note to say how places of worship are sorted...

  • Alphabetically by location
  • Then by denomination, in descending number of places of worship in that denomination
  • Then alphabetically by denomination
  • Then by listed status (Grade I → Grade II* → Grade II → unlisted)
  • Then alphabetically by church name

Sharpthorne Community Church

[edit]

Note to self ... need to investigate this one. Hassocks5489 (tickets please!) 23:42, 12 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Others to investigate...

[edit]

St Luke's, East Grinstead...

[edit]

...is going to be demolished and redeveloped with flats/community space (including worship space or not??): [7] [8] Hassocks5489 (Floreat Hova!) 17:07, 10 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Earlier Hope Chapel, Hurstpierpoint?

[edit]

The entry for the Hope Baptist Chapel in Hurstpierpoint mentions an earlier chapel in Manor Road. I think this might be the building at 50.9349°N -0.1803°W. A photo at [9] calls *this* Chapel Cottage, not the Wesleyan Chapel further west along Manor Road (and surely no one would call the former Wesleyan Chapel a cottage). In any case the building at 50.9349°N -0.1803°W looks distinctly ecclesiatical - the shape of the building as shown on the OS maps is not that of an originally domestic building - and merits further investigation. --Pfold (talk) 12:16, 5 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

No definitive evidence unfortunately; available OS maps mark it as "Institute". Also not mentioned in Elleray or Chambers. Hassocks5489 (Floreat Hova!) 17:27, 28 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
