Football culture[edit]

I don't know, some songs may need to be indicated to be (heavily) associated with football fan culture? --AltSylt (talk) 18:57, 8 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Leppin song[edit]

Feuer und Flamme, that's an unpopular song that received plenty of bad critics. Hamburger Morgenpost called it embarrassing, others were even more harsh [1] [2]

I have tried to collect titles by established musicians only, otherwise only if explicitly voted in favor by one of the large Hamburg radio stations. I don't want edit wars on this page, so I d rather have controversial songs just not being on here altogether. Please respect that. --AltSylt (talk) 21:50, 9 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I've added a talk comment about the song, and while it's true that the song is receiving bad critics - it also has its fans. The artist has appeared on national television and the negative publicity is bound to make her more famous. I wouldn't insist on adding the song but there are good arguments for it (have added them in a new talk entry). And seriously, an encyclopedia cannot ignore topics that are controversial. Note also that Saskia Leppin's facebook fan page has over 2500 likes while Spyzr only has 1444, a good indication that she is better established. If we can't agree on this I suggest handing it over to a third objective editor. Indeterminacy (talk) 01:51, 10 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Add Saskia Leppin "Feuer und Flamme"[edit]

I propose adding this song by Saskia Leppin. It is a song about holding the Olympics in Hamburg and though the song itself is somewhat controversial and polarizing, it definitely fits the criteria for a song about Hamburg:

1) The singer has appeared on national television and is compared to national schlager star Helene Fischer. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aaPe3VuTgPw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rCBjRRLVipU

2) The song has received national press including Die Zeit, Die Welt, Tagesspiegel and Focus, also extensive local press in Hamburger Abendblatt and Hamburger Morgenpost http://www.tagesspiegel.de/weltspiegel/saskia-leppin-singt-fuer-hamburg-viel-haeme-fuer-song-zur-olympia-bewerbung/12548368.html http://www.welt.de/sport/article148518227/Dieser-Song-soll-Hamburgs-Olympia-Plaenen-helfen.html http://www.zeit.de/hamburg/stadtleben/2015-11/elbvertiefung-hamburg-11-05 http://www.focus.de/regional/hamburg/olympiabewerbung-hamburg-helene-fischer-oder-dorf-disko-olympiasong-erntet-spott_id_5066457.html

3) The video in Youtube has more than 100k hits https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PdsE1KFQCsM (comparable to the song "Ready For It" with 125k). Is comparably relevant.

4) Not all the criticism of the song is negative. Some sources have called the song an "Ohrwurm" (Catchy tune). http://hamburgwoman.de/saskia-leppin-schreibt-ersten-eigenen-song-fuer-hamburg/ Indeterminacy (talk) 00:27, 10 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

What is that? Further up you say you don't want to pursue that thing getting on the list, and here you try to promote just that? Please don't clutter this page with web trash and don't open multiple threads at the same time. Please try to post your comments in a form and way that is comprehensive and credible in what you want to say.
Let me put this here, just for the record: That woman uses a song title which is identical to the slogan of a national Olympic bid. This has obviously been emotionally charged for weeks, has a multi-million euro investment by Federal and State governments in it, has a nationwide media presence with sport organizations and clubs up and down the country putting it out to the public. It has the heart-blood of thousands of volunteers attached to it. So, that woman coming out of nowhere, puts this song out there and not only that: it's single-handedly declared "The Official Fire and Flame song". Of course, afterwards that was just a misunderstanding; the only thing important here is a PR exercise that has done the job it was supposed to do: that thing called schlager got a nationwide media coverage. Never mind the shitstorm by national media, all the dirty, nasty bashing and abuse on social networks, or bid supporters who don't know if they should laugh or cry. Never mind the damage it all may have done on other levels. And here we are, in spite of it all, you want that woman to get into the Books of Wikipedia, cause even "[...] the negative publicity is bound to make her more famous"...
Honestly, I give a shit how many youtube hits or facebook likes that thing has. I don't care about all your other arguments. Bottom line for Wikipedia: that woman and her song lack any notability. This whole escapade is trivial at best.
When I said "no controversy", I meant I d rather avoid arguments. I don't want someone coming along here, determined to get someone off the list, and it all possibly getting out of hand. I don't want people to feel uneasy about this list. I don't want to bother with people like you. Maybe it was too optimistic, to create this list. Well, its here now and at the moment I feel responsible for it being in a reasonable shape. Please don't try to be smart about criteria for content. You and I know, there are armies of singer and song-writers, constantly putting out songs about Hamburg. Nobody here will blame me trying to cut that out. I am unattached to the other song. The only reason I have put it in instead of yours, is the fact that it has gotten positive, professional feedback, and I thought you just wanted any current song. I will take it out and place a hidden note in the recent songs section for people to mind notability. --AltSylt (talk) 15:43, 10 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Dude, I'm not your enemy so I don't understand why you resort to aggressive and bullying language in an otherwise condescending response. Yes, I made some mistakes about the multiple thread. Sorry about that. It won't happen again. Other than this I didn't do anything wrong. Instead of forcing an edit war, page lock and admin intervention I tried to discuss the Leppin entry with you. I urge you to please read the cordiality rules for Wikipedia. You know where they are.
Also, I don't know what you mean by "people like you" - but the reason I don't like to use Wikipedia is people like you who think they own a page and wield the notability hammer any time they don't agree with an entry. You don't want discussions here? Have a look at the list of Berlin songs in the German Wikipedia, where a very rich discussion is going on. That is the model of how contributions at Wikipedia are meant to work. The list also contains a broader selection, which is something I appreciate as a user. I expect to find entries which are relevant at the local level as well as internationally.
I had a look at your history of edits which are almost exclusively about Hamburg themes, creation/reorganization of pages. I respect that work, especially if it is done privately. But it also gives the impression of some PR agency or employee at city hall trying to make Hamburg look good, that and the slant in your arguments about Leppin. I hope this is not the case.
As for Leppin, because there are also good arguments against inclusion, I'd say let her stand the test of time before revisiting an entry.
