Response from FLC plus minor issues
[edit]I think the single-release-only ones should have their single title in that column, now that I think of it, maybe like "Scared of the Dark[br](single release only)". So are you asking if the acoustic version should be noted as being in that album (which, yes), or if both entries should be included? I think both should, since both were recorded by them. And now that there's been new stuff: Why are some writers marked as "N/A"? If we don't know yet then "not applicable" is not the correct statement... Also, I just caught this: In the lede, it says they've record "5 albums, including these other 4 albums." Well, yes the Christmas album as one of the five, but the compilations are not. This sentence should be rewritten... but I'm sure yet sure how. --Golbez (talk) 13:19, 21 September 2017 (UTC)
- 1) At the time, "Scared of the Dark" (Acoustic) was released as a download/streaming release in April, presumably to boost sales of the single "Scared of the Dark". The other day, Steps announced a deluxe edition of the album, with five new songs. The Acoustic version of "Scared of the Dark" is included as a digital bonus track, which means it is now included on an album. My question is should I replace 'Single release only' with Tears on the Dancefloor: Crying at the Disco? I feel like I should, but it's release as a download precedes the release of the deluxe edition. 2) The deluxe edition of the album, due for release in October, has five new songs. The lead single is a cover of "Dancing with a Broken Heart" so we know who wrote that one, however the other four are originals, and until the album is released, we don't know the writers yet as we can't see the liner notes until then, so I put N/A until the deluxe edition is released. I thought it best to include these 5 new songs so that the list is not incomplete, but it is slightly annoying that it's at FLC and we won't know the writers for another 5 weeks. 3) They did record songs for two greatest hits and one tribute album, so I'm not sure what is incorrect about this? They have recorded songs for 5 studio albums (one of these is a Christmas album), songs for two greatest hits, and songs for one tribute album. I'm not sure what the other 4 albums are that you are referring to? (I've now changed the wording to make it more clear). Golbez — Calvin999 14:30, 21 September 2017 (UTC)
- Ahh, I see. In this case it's not longer a "single release only," and yeah, include it. Maybe include a footnote saying it was originally released as a digital download on [date]. --Golbez (talk) 14:48, 21 September 2017 (UTC)
- At least put a footnote by N/A or by the album explaining why there's no writers yet - album not yet released, full information not yet available.
- It makes much more sense now. Before it read "They did 5 albums, including a Christmas album, a tribute album, and two greatest hits." It make it sound like that 5 was including all of the ones after that. --Golbez (talk) 14:48, 21 September 2017 (UTC)
Albums vs B-sides
[edit]Hi, I was looking through the page hunting for any songs I've missed, and found it helpful. But I did notice that most of the "B-Side" songs are included on one or two Greatest Hits albums (mostly Last Dance and the 5678 Collection. I think it would be really helpful to put that information somewhere, since people are more likely to go looking for albums than collecting singles and B-sides. Maybe replace the B-Side with an album column, or add a column for which album eventually featured it? Irvek (talk) 05:01, 24 February 2021 (UTC)
