Class

[edit]

Lowered to Start. Might be B-class information wise but a lot of the information is not formatted well or helpful on the eyes (nbsp;s do not help align words). Also, there are many stubby sections that don't have a list of their own. Chacor 07:14, 7 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Tables have been added to the page to help with alignment. All images are now the same width. Re-added lists that were originally removed from this page and thrown onto their respective country climatology pages. Still need help finding data from a number of countries/islands/island groups, some still missing, from the list. Thegreatdr (talk) 14:18, 14 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

By Basin

[edit]

This list would be better organized if divided by basin, as each basin is geographically inclusive of countries affected. KyuuA4 01:15, 27 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That would be problematic for Australia, Mexico, Central America, Malaysia, and the United States. Thegreatdr (talk) 03:49, 27 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
By continent, perhaps? Titoxd(?!? - cool stuff) 21:54, 29 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
We could try that, but what continent do the West Indies belong to? North America, or South America? Thegreatdr (talk) 11:20, 30 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Im wondering if we couldnt split this list into two: Northern and Southern, with Australia, the UK, France and China getting their own lists similar to the US one.Jason Rees (talk) 15:23, 7 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Splitting at the equator is a better idea than by basin, as it is more easily distinguishable. I guess the titles could be List of wettest tropical cyclones in the Northern Hemisphere and List of wettest tropical cyclones in the Southern Hemisphere. Thegreatdr (talk) 15:43, 7 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry there was two ideas in 1 there, i think the main list should be split into two and like the titles. The other idea was to give the UK, France, Australia, and China their own lists like the US has. Off course unlike New Zealand, the first two mainlands have not been impacted by a TC but their territories have.Jason Rees (talk) 16:20, 7 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
If you have the data, go for it. The data I have access to for the countries you have mentioned are already contained in the article. I'm not sitting on any unseen information. Thegreatdr (talk) 22:36, 7 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Rename?

[edit]

The article includes several locations that are not countries, such as Anguilla, Bermuda, Cayman Islands, etc. Should the title be changed to be more accommodating? Should those territories be listed under their parent country? Or does it not really matter? ♬♩ Hurricanehink (talk) 18:53, 25 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've been trying to place dependencies within their parent countries, when I've noticed the error. Aren't Bermuda and the Cayman Islands independent? Didn't know Bermuda and the Caymans were still British. Long live the empire! Thegreatdr (talk) 19:29, 25 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Taiwan is considered part of China

[edit]

For the second time, I have moved Taiwan back to China. Internationally, it is considered part of the larger country, even if the US and other countries would rather this not be the case. Thegreatdr (talk) 17:33, 6 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not going to change it, but Taiwan is officially recognized by 23 UN states, the Vatican, and regularly participates in the WTO. Additionally, just about every major country in the world has a de facto embassy, there (TECRO). I really don't think the PRC is going to protest Wikipedia because of a List of wettest tropical cyclones by country article. -- Masamunecyrus(talk)(contribs) 08:24, 9 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Doesn't matter. 23 out of around 200 countries doesn't constitute a consensus. Just trying to abide by wikipedia standards, which in and of themselves are usually inadequate. Thegreatdr (talk) 13:54, 9 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The wiki should be neutral in a political matter, Taiwan was never part of the PRC, the PRC is considered as China, and is disputed territory as 23 countries recognize it as an independent government and it has an independent government, a different flag, basically a completely different government.--77.213.191.134 (talk) 18:21, 18 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Just leave it as is since the end of World War II in 1945, the island group has been under the government of the Republic of China. Jason Rees (talk) 18:29, 18 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Exactly, but the internationally recognized China is not the Republic of China.--77.213.191.134 (talk) 16:55, 20 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

United States

[edit]

Since we have an article covering the United States and its territories, i boldly decided to remove the information that the section contained.Jason Rees (talk) 21:47, 4 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Template: Wettest tropical cyclones start

[edit]

With thanks to @Cyclonebiskit and Thegreatdr: I have realised that the old usage of the Template: Wettest tropical cyclones start, was a little confusing. As a result the usage has been revised to ensure that it is now clearer than ever and can now incorporate if its a single island like Bermuda or Christmas Island or a group of islands like Fiji or a single country. {{Wettest tropical cyclones start|Country={{in/on}}{{Countryname}}}}. I have updated some of the templates and will do more later.Jason Rees (talk) 15:49, 19 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of List of wettest tropical cyclones by country's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 05:23, 27 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
