[edit]What the devil is mine shot? Is it ammo that acts like a mine once it hits the ground? -Toptomcat 02:48, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
- A HE shell with very thin walls but with high capacity for explosive content. --Denniss 20:41, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
"In May 1940 the Bf 109E-4 entered service with the modified MG FF/M gun, adapted to fire the new Minengeschoss (mine shell) ammunition which had very thin walls and a doubled capacity for high explosive (HE)"
tony williams calls the <Minengeschoss> <mine shell>, not <mine-shot>. Lumino 11:19, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
Schräge Musik
[edit]The Photograph depicted is NOT an example of "Schräge Musik", it is just the rear gunner of a Bf 110. "Schräge Musik" means a gun fitted in such a way in the fuselage that it fires at a fixed, upward angle, usually forwards (so the plot could fly below and behind a bomber and shoot at it). - Please closely examine the image. You'll see the MG 81 installation in the center of the rear cockpit but without the guns. You'll see the two MG FF barrels just above the rear cockpit. Bf 110's Schräge Musik was not installed in the fuselage but in the rear cockpit. --Denniss (talk) 11:34, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
Please add info on the fallowing cannons:

This is it?
[edit]This is all we could come up with on the MG FF? Wow. It doesn't even say anything about why it's called the "MG FF"! Means "machine gun, wing-mounted". Which is another thing I don't see anywhere on Wikipedia; as far as Germans were concerned, this was a "machine gun", not a "cannon", hence the "MG" designation rather than "MK". They used 20mm as the cutoff, only 20mm and smaller = MG.AnnaGoFast (talk) 02:39, 24 January 2018 (UTC)
File:Do17z 20mm.jpg
[edit]The File:Do17z 20mm.jpg offers a much better view of a MG FF installation than the Bf 110, where only tips of cannon are visible. It would be better to remove the 110 for another topic and keep the more obvious Do 17 installation.
The copyright issue has been settled, that is need to be under Fair Use per Wikipedia:Non-free content. The image is of reduced DPI and size to not impact any sales of a production company.
The image is worthy of inclusion because it clearly depicts something mentioned by a number of primary source authors, including by Manfred Griehl, Richard Franks, and Chris Goss.

- Fair use is not applicable if free images of the subject, the gun, are available, and they are. Sorry. - BilCat (talk) 03:48, 16 September 2018 (UTC)
