Article Review

[edit]

Overall, a concise and well thought out article that tells us the projects that Google has initiated to help the young girls to learn how to code with various coding languages and the underlying motivation to start the initiative. A wide variety of sources are also quoted to support the article. The authors have also included examples of past projects and other relevant scope such as the partnerships of Made with Code.

Areas for improvement

[edit]

Projects

  • Could consider putting their information of the various projects in a table format for better readability.

Impact on the participants

  • Could elaborate more on the impact on those who participated in the projects, such as how it has helped them in their work or life.
  • Could provide more real-life examples of such impact.

Reception from participants and public

  • Could provide information of how it is being received by the public and participants. Perhaps provide some indicators of whether the projects have been successful and what Made with Code intends to do or achieve in the future.

[edit]

The Made with Code wikipedia article page was written in such a way that was factual, sumamrised and easy to understand with appropriate citations. I would like to suggest the following improvements where the wiki page could include a summary box with details such as the website url, social media links (Twitter, Instagram), the key founders, dates, etc. They could consider adding on the logo of the Made with Code program or some photos taken of the coding parties hosted by the program. It might also be useful for the wiki page to include a "See Also" section that provides links to other relevant wikipedia pages such as Codecademy. I also noticed that there was little mentions of other large organisations such as the Girl Scouts of the USA that incorporated the Made with Code into their programs where they host girl-coding parties at Girl Scouts and Boys and Girls Clubs around the country, as well as fund a range of marketing and other awareness campaigns. The Wiki page could include another section on the organisations that they are in collaboration (Girls Inc, Girl Scouts of the USA, MIT Media Lab, Mozilla Webmaker, Sew Electric, Shapeways) with together with details on the events or collaborations. Also a full list of their non-profit grantees as mentioned in their website: BLACK GIRLS CODE, CODE.ORG, DONORSCHOOSE.ORG, GIRLS WHO CODE, NCWIT ASPIRATIONS IN COMPUTING, TECHNOVATION CHALLENGE.
