Notability
[edit]What are they notable for? ...measured against WP:CORP / WP:GNG. Widefox; talk 23:33, 13 May 2013 (UTC)
- I will double check the secondary sources and if others don't object I would like more opinions at a second AfD/relisted AfD. Sorry my original nom was weak. Widefox; talk 09:25, 14 May 2013 (UTC)
- There was significant coverage about the busines as a result of the Boston Marathon bombings and a good about of coverage as the result of being a winner of the Best of Boston Award by Boston Magazine. The retailer also has eight locations in Massachusetts. Marathon Sports has also become a place of local interst for tourists and the running community.
Additional coverage:
- WBZ, a local CBS affiliate
- Another report from WBZ
- Coverage from Reuters
- New York Daily News
- Huffington Post Small Business
- Boston Globe

- Those are all about the bombing event - WP:NOT#NEWS, don't think they help notability of the business but could be used in the bombing article. I've double checked the sources in the article and don't see what they are notable for, so will create a better AfD for more opinions. Widefox; talk 07:30, 15 May 2013 (UTC)
- I live in the Boston area, and know that the chain of Marathon Sports stores (all in the Boston area) has been inducted into Boston Magazine's "Hall of Fame" in the category "Running Shop". They have won most (all?) years since the magazine began their yearly award issue, but I can only find online sources for the 2011 and 2012 issues of the magazine, here:
- Although there are many smaller local "Best of" efforts around the Boston area, the "Best of Boston" issue from Boston Magazine is the longest-running and most reputable. I could stop into the Boston Public Library to check paper copies of back issues of the magazine. Would this be enough to establish notability for the stores? The flagship store, across from the finish line of the Boston Marathon finish line, is active in the running community, and many international elite runners stop in before and after the marathon running. Unfortunately, I can not find any sources for this last bit. IceCreamForEveryone (talk) 11:04, 22 May 2013 (UTC)
