References and notability

[edit]

The lead says that this is a "list of acronyms listed in scholarly books and articles" but only one of the terms cites such a book or article, and that gives a bare ISBN with no page reference, making it a cite of limited value.

I have removed several terms that were not even defined at the linked pages, which were in those cases dab pages. But if references to at lest prove the use of these acronyms are not provided soon, I will nominate this for deletion. Moreover, so many acronyms are used in marketing that I suspect this list is unmaintainable (inherently incomplete) anyway, so I would still be inclined to suggest deletion. What is the point of this page when authors can simply categorize their entries with Category:Marketing terminology ? Mark R. Attisha (talk) 23:10, 3 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Pointless page

[edit]

I agree with the previous comment. This page is entirely pointless.

  • The current listing is neither comprehensive nor exhaustive list of marketing terms (e.g. where is DAGMAR? servicescape? SERVQUAL? etc)
  • The number of new terms being coined as marketing currently goes through a period of change would make it difficult to impossible to ever provide a comprehensive list. Who is supposed to monitor the literature and update this page on a regular or semi-regular basis?
  • Who is supposed to maintain this page? Many links are broken. Who will fix them?
  • The terms listed here can be found in any good business or marketing dictionary, glossary eg. Wiki Dictionary - so this page simply duplicates similar content, without adding value
  • The template which calls for citations is just silly. Each item would require its own reference. The amount of work involved in referencing each item would be very onerous. Surely the links are all that is needed and users can find appropriate references on each relevant page.
  • There are already several pages on Wikipedia that contain long lists of marketing topics. See, for example, Outline of marketing. Do we really need another one????????????????????
