... that Mavis Paterson, an octogenarian grandmother, has cycled over 10,000 miles (16,000 km) for charity? Source: Sources are in article (Clydesdale 2002, BBC 2008, The Herald June 2019, Wade 2023): simple addition shows that 6000+6000+960+1000 is indeed >10000 :)

@Schminnte and Elias Ziade: I like the hook to be easily found in the article. The article does not use the word octogenarian and I have to do math piecing together the 10,000 miles. 10,000 appear in the lead un-cited and then does not reappear in the body.
