In spite of the inconsistencies of the Mayo Kaan controversy as to he being the first Superman, I can say that to a degree he honestly believed it. I visited the man when he lived in Winthrop and was a practicing chiropractor. Down his cellar Gym I viewed newspaper clippings written in 1939-40 about his being drafted into the services due to the second world war. The headlines for this Watertown newspaper clipping read. "Superman is being drafted."
