Article has bias
[edit]It's missing the history of the Canadian ban and the corporate lawsuit trying to force it to be un-banned. It makes it sound as if MMT was actually found to be safe by scientific research, rather than found to be "safe" as the result of a legal threat. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.59.149.223 (talk) 19:25, 15 December 2013 (UTC)
Article DEFINITELY has bias
[edit]The statement on vehicle manufacturers says "some" vehicle manufacturers do NOT recommend using MMT on their vehicles". That is COMPLETELY FALSE: it should truthfully say: MOST vehicle manufacturers recommend AGAINST the use of MMT on their vehicles". At least Chrysler, VW and BMW caution the owner AGAINST using MMT additivated gasoline. Anyone can find that MMT leaves deposits inside the catalytic converter, as well as on spark plugs, where it is clearly visible. The deposits are red colored, like a red brick. 192.100.180.10 (talk) 19:07, 23 July 2015 (UTC)Amclaussen, Mexican Petroleum Institute. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.100.180.21 (talk) 20:26, 20 June 2014 (UTC)
- Please provide a decent source and we'll take care of this bias. Editors here have little contact with the petrochemical industry, so your advice is needed. --Smokefoot (talk) 22:52, 20 June 2014 (UTC)
- I'm no petrochemical scientist, but I can confirm that Ford specifically states, "Do not use... fuels containing the octane booster, methylcyclopentadienyl manganese tricarbonyl (MMT)." Just finished reading that bullet point in my owners manual for the 2014 Focus I just purchased. It's found on page 155. Mine is the third printing, so it may vary when compared to other printings. --atirox (talk) 04:50, 22 September 2014 (UTC)
Not only does the article not have a bias, it is blatently protecting the interests of Afton Chemicals. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2602:306:CD66:2BA0:D97E:A876:BE0B:E958 (talk) 18:21, 17 October 2014 (UTC)

- Interesting collection. The primary literature on commercial chemicals is usually large. I bolded an attractive secondary source, per WP:MEDRS. I dont think we use MMT in the US, but they do in Canada. The key question would be the benefits of replacing tetraethyl lead (and other additives) with MMT. --Smokefoot (talk) 17:45, 28 December 2012 (UTC)
