Citation needed on movies with sister.
[edit]"Has stated in interviews that he refuses to see movies that his sister, Virginia Madsen, appears nude in.[citation needed]" I recall this from an interview in an UK music/movie-mag. I'll see if I still have the issue somewhere. 62.194.163.45 23:39, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
Red Light Runners
[edit]MM starred in and co-produced Red Light Runners, a crime film which started filming in England but apparently ran into financial difficulties and was abandoned. Does anyone think this is notable enough to be included in the article? There is information about the film on the following links: [1] [2] [3] [4] Count de Ville 03:17, 30 September 2007 (UTC)
Miami Vice
[edit]He plays a bad guy with some lines in episode 1x10. One of his early roles it seems. --Viper007Bond (talk) 11:09, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
Another film
[edit]He was also in an indie film called Break. It was directed by Marc Clebbanoff and stars Frank Krueger, Sarah Thompson, Chad Everett, Mackenzie Firgens, David Carradine, Charles Durning, James Russo & the urban ninja Xin Sarith Azuma Phan Wuku. Just so you all know

[edit]I believe that he (correct me if I am wrong) played the lead role in Driver 3 as Tanner and made a appearrance in grand Thef Auto III as Toni Cipriani.

Date of birth
[edit]Almost every source give his DoB as 25 September 1958, though on birthdatabase.com Public Records show that he was born in 1957. That's why I've changed the article accordingly.
Micheal Madsen was born in 1957 not 1958 cuz he graduated high school in 1975 people born in 1957 dont graduate high school in 1976 they gradaute in 1975 22 january 2016 User:Babyiluvu223(UTC)
Birthdatabase.com, which may or may not be considered a reliable source, lists more than one Michael Madsen born around that time in Chicago. As to the OR supposition based on when he graduated high school, Wikipedia needs reliable-source citations to [{WP:VERIFY|verify]] claims, particularly those in articles about living people, per WP:BLP. --Tenebrae (talk) 20:57, 26 January 2016 (UTC)

Sigh.
[edit]Are Danish and Irish people really this insecure? Danish and Irish roots in the introduction? It is not important. Every American has some kind of roots. This section is gone. It isn't mentioned in his sister's page and actors generally don't have such nonsense put in the first paragraph. Especially when it is about their grandparents. A person of Madsen's age having grandparents of a certain ancestry is not relevant or shown in most other actor's pages. Not even known and stereotyped ethnics like Pacino or Deniro have it. Nice try, but no. Savagedjeff (talk) 06:26, 5 June 2010 (UTC)
I reckon it's mentioned solely for explanatory reasons as regarding the family name, which is unmistakenly
of Danish/Dano-Norwegian origin. Flight714 (talk) 22:49, 6 November 2015 (UTC)
Yearbook photo
[edit]I have removed the yearbook photo as the subject's appearance at that time is not relevant to his notability at this time. Please see Wikipedia:Media_copyright_questions/Archive/2009/January#Yearbook_photo for a brief discussion on this topic, and discuss here before re-adding. --Tgeairn (talk) 23:40, 15 July 2012 (UTC)
- The conversation there is irrelevant, as they are assuming the photos are copyrighted. In this case, the yearbook was published in the United States before 1977 without a copyright notice, therefore it is public domain. There is no reason not to keep it.—Chowbok ☠ 01:30, 16 July 2012 (UTC)

Proposed merge of Michael Madsen filmography into Michael Madsen
[edit]Not long or prominent enough to be its own article, not just filmography, version in main article removed in [5] is far superior, e.g. has more citations Aaron Liu (talk) 00:35, 26 May 2023 (UTC)
Date of birth again
[edit]LA Times https://www.latimes.com/entertainment-arts/movies/story/2022-01-25/michael-madsen-son-dead-hudson-madsen among other reliable sources gives his age as 64 in January 2022 which would make him born in 1957 since his birthday is September 25. However the user @Rift: continues to revert it do to AP in a whole list with celebrity birthdays gives his age as 64 on 25 September 2022. I say LA Times is more reliable, esp since it's a full interview and not just a list even if they don't write the date in plain text but we know his birthday is 25 September. Any other opinions? DrKilleMoff (talk) 21:37, 18 June 2023 (UTC)
- While I don’t think the content gives it better criteria, I do think this one is better as it has a link. I’ve also tried to add a {{bbad}} template for this but haven’t found a way to put it together with the microformat et al. Also before I saw this I’ve left a comment on their talk page. Aaron Liu (talk) 01:09, 19 June 2023 (UTC)
- Previous to this discussion, I already added an additional web citation (here) for the same claim. Rift (talk) 01:11, 19 June 2023 (UTC)
- Ok, that settles it. However I’m also curious as to why you deleted his significant films in that edit. Aaron Liu (talk) 01:14, 19 June 2023 (UTC)
- I didn't. Check again; they're right there after the equals sign on the line below. Odd formatting? Rift (talk) 01:21, 19 June 2023 (UTC)
- Also does that mean the physical citation can be removed? Aaron Liu (talk) 01:21, 19 June 2023 (UTC)
- Is there a hierarchy of citation formats? I don't see any harm in retaining a citation with "permanence" alongside a web one that may disappear, especially since I included the quote from the newspaper specifically to aid its verifiability. Rift (talk) 01:27, 19 June 2023 (UTC)
- A permanent citation that most editors can't access is worse than a web citation that can be viewed in archive things even if it goes down. Aaron Liu (talk) 20:02, 19 June 2023 (UTC)
- Why remove a valid citation? Rift (talk) 20:07, 19 June 2023 (UTC)

@Rift:. In what way were my sources that I added that supported 1957 as his year of birth unreliable? Is it so hard for you to accept that sources differ about his year of birth? DrKilleMoff (talk) 20:12, 12 March 2024 (UTC)
For other users I can add that I added these two sources https://www.yourbasin.com/gallery/celebrities-with-september-birthdays/ https://www.donnaglamour.it/chi-e-michael-madsen/curiosita/ that supported his year of birth as 1957. Rift removed them without any further explanation. DrKilleMoff (talk) 20:12, 12 March 2024 (UTC)
- These sources are a lot less known and probably a lot less professional than the Associated Press. LA Times less so, but still, and AP has a DOB down to the day. Aaron Liu (talk) 20:26, 12 March 2024 (UTC)
- 1. Neither of the sources you cited have reputation for fact-checking or editorial oversight, as the Associated Press does (see WP:RS).
- 2. I explained why I reverted your edits in the edit summaries.
- Hope this helps. Rift (talk) 21:51, 12 March 2024 (UTC)
