Keeping on topic

[edit]

The origin of this article was the former satellite temperature measurements article, in an attempt to maintain its global warming focus. Because of this, there is significant content in this article which does not conform to the current title. Efforts should be made to keep the content relevant to the article's title. I will make some changes but i have already removed the surface measurement and thus current content belongs only to the msu temperature record.--Giorgiogp2 (talk) 17:04, 14 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Very good. Consider changing/removing the fifth sentence of what seems to be the lead. Has construction of MSUs changed over time? If so, how? Also, the creation of the UAH satellite temperature dataset page means a lot of the UAH dataset quality issues can be shortened or removed from this page, if it is even necessary at all to discussion of this satellite unit's temperature measurements. Thegreatdr (talk) 17:27, 14 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You're making progress. Consider eliminating the 4th section of this article, as it has more to do with datasets and climate models, not the MSU unit. Besides, it's already covered in the UAH dataset and satellite temperature measurement articles. Thegreatdr (talk) 19:40, 25 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Merge to Satellite temperature measurements

[edit]

There is massive overlap between this and Satellite temperature measurements. I think they should merge.

Certainly, the "Reconciliation of data with climate models" should not be in both. And what does "neither Regression models or other related techniques were reconcilable with observed data" mean? William M. Connolley (talk) 13:01, 16 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Nobody seems to have responded to this merge suggestion in seven years (!), but it does seem reasonable-- this article and the Satellite temperature measurements article really cover the same material. Skepticalgiraffe (talk) 15:23, 8 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Moving material from Satellite Temperature Measurements

[edit]

Since this article has substantially the same content as was in the [[Satellite temperature measurements] article, I have moved a large block of text out of that article and am putting it here, with the section in that article now pointing with a "main" to this. (This seemed to me a better choice than just merging the articles.)

This will take a few edits-- I have moved the text as a block first, but we need to delete the duplications. Skepticalgiraffe (talk) 17:19, 11 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I was uncertain about merging the two "trends" tables into one, since they incorporate different things, and finally decided to keep only the second table, since the data in it is more recent than the other table. Skepticalgiraffe (talk) 18:16, 12 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I also removed the table of "Corrections to UAH data trends" from this article, and made that a link to the section in the UAH article (which was pretty much identical, since it had been copied and pasted here from that article). Skepticalgiraffe (talk) 23:37, 18 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
